I leave next week in my +8 for my annual Morgan drive this year going from Colorado to Vancouver Island and back covering around 4000 miles, when planning the route I decided to ask Copilot and see what it would come up with. The information I gave Copilot was: give me scenic routes avoiding highways from (my home address) to Port Angeles (the ferry crossing) traveling around 300 miles a day with rated hotel stops and lunch stops taking no more than 6 days in total. Also give me an alternative reverse route using the same criteria. It was amazing the routes that it came up with that I was able to pose further questions to Copilot to combine options and customize further, within an hour I had the 6 day routes there and back with hotels, lunch and bathroom stops fully planned with directions, road conditions, hotel rates and bookings, projected weather forecast plus the cafe menus to look at. As a sort of joke I asked Copilot what I should pack for the trip and it actually came up with some very interesting suggestions, one being "take toilet paper as Rest Areas notoriously don't have any". I know I am slow and wary at adopting AI but in this case it has provided me with a plan I would probably not have come up with doing the old fashioned way and a hell of a lot quicker

Ai systems are improving all the time. Like computer programming, the phrase “garbage in, garbage out” applies! I haven’t used one for planning a trip yet, but it seems like you got a good result with that one Bruce.

I am off to Slovenia and the Croatian Islands in the 1980 +8 in September. Historically used; books, maps and Google to find interesting routes. We used AI this week in a similar fashion and it has come up with some interesting options along with which cities have emission and access restrictions. Our trip is circa 3500 miles.

I envy you Stephen, my 79 plus 8 needs some work before I can use it. I seem to remember you are ending up at Lake Bled some time in September. We may still be there in mid September and it would ,be great to see the cars in your rally. .Think your route was on your website, so will look if that is OK. Best MM
