I'm not so sure its always nostalgia that drives some of the prices, often classic cars are a way of hiding money and therefore investment opportunties are sort out as in every market place.......often such things like leading up the 50th Anniversary of the E Type, lead to increased demand and hiked prces, that then fell away following the anniversary. Cars that qualitify for Mille Miglia ie pre 1957 manufacurer versions eg Austin Healey 100/4 BN1 and BN2 will always have a greater following than later versions, basically for that reason.

Then there are cars that always seem to buck the trend eg the MG Midget....most people like the MIni had one at some point, yet their desireability and demand hence prices has always been low......there is a 4k miles totally original rubber bumber been on sale for years started at £13k and last time I saw it was going for less than £9k.

As for Morgan's, whilst their build quality has improved dramatically and there is less to be aware of and decreased likihood of needing chassis replacement etc in post mid 80's cars etc., they are definately struggling...........the higher maintence requirments of hand made cars may be putting people off. But compare the price of a Morgan with other brands in the market at the same price point and the Morgan seems a bargain by comparison.....but lack of boot, only 2 seats, hard ride may narrows the market considerably.

Jewellery is a far easier way of doing it and the long haired Brigadier never complains. Not subject to the vagaries of government legislation et al. C Cars are definitely old blokes dreaming of days long since past hoping too. God they don’t lose too much money is the reality,

Not surprised it's not sold - pick up a good solid Midget for between £3-5K.

Same with the MGBGT - decent car, very usuable and you can pick up a good example for sub £5K. The price is what attracted me to the marque originally.

Saw a nice Mk2 RS2000 the other day, Thought it was a bargain at £9,500, but then spotted the extra zero.........

Good cars the rubber bumper MG's, designed with the US in mind and therefore like the TR7 could run on unleaded fuel.

What the Midget and classic Mini share is a small footprint along with incredible handling by the standards of the day. and arguably even now. Compromised only by limited power, downhill on the bends you won't get away from either in much faster options. We've had a number of both, so experienced this first hand. The MGB is more practical, but nowhere near as agile as the Midget as standard. Of course now you can get fancy suspension and Duratec engines. A Midget with a Duratec would be quite a weapon, but they are usually overlooked, because the MGB appears a more complete package.

I was in MGB's when the cutting edge drivers were in Escorts. I didn't get it then, and I don't now. I had one, a Mk2 1600 Ghia with bells and whistles, and signal orange. It was quite average on the road, and I never had another. A lad from a wealthy family turned up at the pub in a brand new TR6, yellow with hardtop. I envied that. His plate was PEN 30. Not so bothered about that. I should have got a TR6 but never did.

My first car was a 59 Frogeye Sprite, which was a rot box which took perhaps a year or more to nail back together in barely MOT passable condition.... Great first car, it taught me so much, the only downside for me was the quarter elliptic rear springs putting so much stress into the monocoque. Following Sprites/Midgets seem to me a bit like cockroaches, as they will likely be around when all the machines that depend upon electronics, digital or otherwise, are no longer operational for any of the all to many reasons they fail...?

There is no doubting the convenience of the Tesla as a transportation device.... BUT..? (-:

Well I've had 5 (cochroaches) Midgets, in quite quick succession and enjoyed them all, the 1500 was just that bit more edgey on the limit due to the raised ride height. I used to on a weekly basis travell down to Healthrow from the Midlands, and despite the small boot, could always fit the suitcase in somewhere. Made no difference what the weather, deep in snow and sometimes left for weeks, it always started first time and they never let me down save for the 1250 which blew a head gasket in a really hot spell of weather.

I've had 2 midgets. Loved them both. So articulate.

I've had two Midgets from new 1966 and 1968 loved them both only thing changed was rear shockers courtesy of John Sprinzel brackets fitted to allow Koni shocks, I tested them out for him before he fitted them to his Monte Carlo Midget.
