I recently realized every English schoolboy's dream and bought a 2025 Plus Four. Looked at a 1995 Plus 8 but it was too rough a ride for my 81 year old bones and the very smart dealer suggested that I should try the CX Plus Four that just happened to have pride of place in the showroom. I was hooked. I am getting used to its little ways and the automatic transmission (we are in the US), but as an old fellow, I have to wear hearing aids (Phonaks) for moderate hearing loss, and they just don't go together with having the top down. Other members of forums have recommended putting them on mute, but most HAs still keep the microphones switched on, which defeats the object. However, my audiologist added a mute program that I can easily switch to, that completely cuts out the wind noise in the microphones, but lets external sounds still get through, although at a lower level. What a transformation, and driving the car with the top down is now a delight. Hope this is useful to other seniors with childhood dreams.

Hi, I am recognised as profoundly deaf and have the Phonak hearing aids, my audio man sent me the APP so I can "tune" the aids and create my own programs on the hoof with my good lady driving - i.e. boosting the higher frequencies and limiting the unwanted lower ones. I have three such programs and it really is very easy to do.

I do have a 1999 Plus 8 on dual Sports exhausts so that program I label "Calm situation 1" as it's my happy place, stiff but well performing suspension on 55 section tyres you are fairly well immune to the potholes that abound on our poverty stricken roads and get to hear the V8 in full song.

Welcome to Morgan ownership and enjoyment of your new car. Not so many years ago an auto trans option would be unthought of in a Morgan, now though many UK owners opt for such on their Plus Four which uses a variant of the B48 engine offering 50Nm more torque over manual and of course the 8 speed is very slick and with paddle control. Note also for the Plus Six that's the only transmission option.

I also occasionally (but increasingly often) wear hearing aids. Its not unusual to forget they are in when jumping back in the car after a lunch outing. My greater concern though is loosing them.

As a relative youth - in my 60s - I am also delighting in top down - and ideally side-screens off - driving my 2025 Plus Four. After some adjustment to the auto-transmission, I now drive it exclusively in semi-auto mode: after firing up the engine I push the stick to the left to move over to S, pull down to select gear 2 S/manual, then stay in S/manual, and only use the stick (i.e. not paddles) to shift up and down (by staying in S/manual this avoids the accidental throw into N that you can get when you use the stick in D/manual) - and I only use gears 2-8; plenty enough torque to move off in 2 and avoids unnecessary early gear change from 1 when pulling away from junctions etc. I lift part or fully off the accelerator while changing up or down and this makes it behave more 'rationally' - almost feels like the box / ECU has been learning as well. Driving it this way has soon become very intuitive and engaging, with entertaining engine / exhaust notes, if desired, or very composed and quiet if not. The torque profile is very accommodating. The fuel economy takes a hit on shorter or 'enthusiastic' journeys, but on longer journeys and motorways etc., mostly in 6/7/8, it returns to its astonishingly reliable 50-55 mpg. It has also proved very comfortable on long journeys, and the 4-cycl 2.0 twin scroll has plenty enough for me / UK roads.
