As I was sitting in a lengthy queue of traffic on Sunday,roof down in the blistering sun, heading south inching down Blackpool prom, taking us the best part of 40 minutes to travel a couple of miles.......I thought thank goodness, I'm in the CX. The air conditioning was doing quite well to cope under the circumstances, the auto just handled everything as we inched forward,, despite the heat and the lenghty time spend idling, the water temp guage was rock steady, we were listening to Sue's choice of music and all was well with the world,

Had I been in any of my trads, I'm sure I would have reached an entirely different conclusion as to the enjoyment factor of that particular journey.. Sunday. just built on the great journeys I've had in it, eg a few days earlier to and from Lifes, , where the car performed brillantly, felt like it was on rails and it moves when it needs to. Living with it as a daily driver is much less of a compromise, than I expected, even in the depths of winter it was good fun.

Yes, it has a frustrating clunk in the drive train, the wipers for some reason have also developed a heavy clunk when the come to the farest point in their sweep.......nothing obvious no idea whats causing that,or as to what's going on underneath. These type of things would have been really annoying to me in the past, but I've enjoyed the day to day living with the car so much. I'm more than prepared to forgive these 'inconveniences' and will get them investigated in the winter. I've still to sort out all the gaps which create's cold draughts, I'm getting used to them so, maybe it's part of the charm that reminds you, despite all the advancements. it's still a Morgan. The draughts are probably keeping me more honest to the brand.I doubt if I would have been as accomodating and forgiving with my trads, as I would have felt I've already compromised on the ride quality, footwell space, heating, cooling, lights etc...........compared to other open topped cars.

Of course it helps that I enjoy the high specification of the car, the wood dash, consul and steering wheel are so traditional Morgan, I feel at home everytime I get into the car.............don't use it for a few days and I get a welcoming leather smell as I open the door. I'm not known for keeping cars, but this one has hit the spot, I would like a Supersport, but with each passing day I'm not so sure I want to part with this one. It's not perfect by any means, but it comes close.....as Sue says what more do you want or could ask for?


It's a long way away from my first Morgans, less pure, less of a challenge to drive, but it keeps me dry, warm/cool as appropriate, but it does the most important job extremely well and that is keeping me driving a Morgan.

John, keep an eye on yr wipers clonk. Our 2020 Plus Six has had three sets of wiper linkage, one of the issues was a clock before the near side wiper mechanism fell to bits. The wiper mechanism is very adjustable, but its all hidden behind the dash. Our 3rd variation ( and latest ) does seem to have fixed the issue of wiper linkage failures.

Thanks for that, I thought it may well be the mechanism behind the dash........I'll get it checked out sooner rather than later.....reassuring that Morgan hand build quality hasn't changed too much over the decades.Got to love them, do you know when they introduced the latest wiper mechanism variation.I was wondering whether my late MY22 may have been fiited with the latest, or knowing my luck an earlier problematic version.

Our last linkage was fitted about 2.5 yrs ago, my understanding is small changes were introduced after 2021 on the Plus Six, or the linkage assembly qc was improved, the linkage is very adjustable, certainly the 3rd wiper linkage set now fitted is better made than the originals. The wiper arm design was changed as well.

One thing to check is see if the wiper blades are hitting the screens lower metal edge when in operation, its better to squirt a hose on the screen while checking, as that helps in reproducing a constant wet screen.
Our 2nd set of linkages varied the park position of the blades and the blades would hit the lower screen edge, they would never keep the same park position, as the trunnions were semi siezing at times.

On the Plus Six the early wiper arms were updated, as the locking screw kept coming loose and then the wiper arm would come off, the early wiper arms would distort where they fitted over the trunnion splines thus allowing the locking screw to work loose. I ended up fitting the last variation of arm and blade and using a small amount of locktite blue on the retaining screw. I check them periodically but they have been ok for over 2 yrs now.

Thanks for that detailed explanation, initailly my blades did hit the lower chrome edge of the frame, but I adjusted the blade position on the spline so they neither struck the side edge or the bottom edge of the screen frame. But then some time later they developed the clunk...... I was very aware of the locking screw coming loose and always used blue locktite. I'll get Matt at Life's to have a good look at what is going on.

Done a little more research and because it sounds like the centre arm is thuding, it could well be the mechanism is hitting the bulkhead as there is apparently very little clearance in that area, which was apparently finally fixed (following a few iterations/changes over time), by a new lever mechanism in 2024.

Well the newness is wearing off now, looks like a newer design mechanism maybe the way forward,it's a little annoying, more the inconvneience, leadtime to get it booked in during the busy summer season and then the downtime getting it fixed. and I'm sure the cost will be a not inconsiderable wallet lightening exercise. Got to love them, well you can't no matter how you try take it with you..

Update...booked the car into Malvern for further investigation in early August having spoken to Mark Baldwin at some length, who although extremely busy was very accomodating to arrange to inspect the car as early as possible, I also bought the service and MOT forward from October,.as it maybe there for some time. and to save a planned service journey in October.

You are so right, the unfortunate or fortunate (according to your prospective) is the price of the Supersport there's a lot of other cars I would also consider and would like to own.........I currently need a Morgan in my life and I'm balancing/swinging between keeping the P4 as it does a lot of what I want and putting the extra cash necessary to get a Supersport towards something else I fancy...kind of having your cake and eat it.........I'm also waiting to see what reliability issues start to raise their heads with the Supersports as there's a big difference between the £50/£60k you may have tied up in a P4 and my resultant more relaxed approach ( relaxed but a little concerned, especially if they find the drive train clunk within acceptable tolerances ) to reliabilty issues as opposed to maybe £100/£120k in a Supersport and you experience the inevitable reliability issues.

At the moment the P4 maybe with Morgan for a few weeks in August, a bit frustrating at the height of summer, as a result I may well talk Sue into swopping her Mercedes Coupe into a convertible so we have a softtop car,thru August. I would be less understanding/appreciative if it was a Supersport in similar circumstances.

I need to drive a Supersport and see if the extre money is really that great a step change over P4 in the day to day use I currently put it.to........or would the P4 plus something else is the way forward, especially if one of the cars is unavailable being sorted out.

Chaps, I'm here to ask if anyone has made the change from the 3.7 roadster to the supersport. we went to KH. to see dan White ( he of ssl
spension )and whilst we were chatting ( very nice chap by the way ) Dan Whiting came over and introduced the Memsahib to the Supersport as if that wasn't bad enough he proceeded to take her for a ride in it, meantime I'm dripping blood everywhere having cut my leg whilst trying not to mark that Bentley in the showroom ( Blood thinning pills are a pain )
They came back after a while and of course the Mem. is grinning like a cheshire cat, "I want that car" she tells me, meanwhile Dan W. is busy booking a holiday on the basis that I will agree.

My question is, are there any pit falls ( apart from the cost and excise licence cost ) answers on £50.00 notes please. thank you for your patience.
