I like it for what it is a supersport with a roof grafted on. If morgan history is anything to go on they might make 20 or 30. At our local car show the other day the black factory morgan supersprt just happened to be parked two cars away from myself and a mates gorgeous red roadster. You could hear the mutterings from non morgan enthusiasts which werent very complimentary about the supersport and felt I had to justify its exsistance and big it up which is a bit sad.

I think it looks fantastic and I’d have one in a shot if I could afford it. I also think the Supersport looks fantastic with the soft top on; the hard top, less so but maybe better for winter. I do struggle to understand the negativity but then it did take me some time to really get the Supersport. It’s not a trad.

I rather like the Midsummer Coupé, though not nearly as much as I admire the Aeromax. It is a pity that Morgan did not pursue a more distinctive design direction, as there was an opportunity to create something truly exceptional—perhaps even a car capable of rivalling the Aeromax in terms of both presence and originality. It strikes me as being very much akin to the Supersport, albeit with a greater degree of refinement; almost as though it were a Supersport Plus.

The Aero models, for example, featured properly modern side windows, and I find it somewhat surprising that Morgan have yet to reintroduce such a practical feature. I also find myself in agreement with previous comments regarding the greenhouse effect created by the cabin. I have never been particularly fond of glass roofs that lack an integral sunshade, and I suspect that on a warm summer's day the interior could become rather uncomfortable.

That said, I must commend Morgan on the quality of the finish and detailing of the new Coupé. In that respect, it appears considerably more sophisticated than the firm's standard models, and it undoubtedly represents a step in the right direction.

One to be commended.
