You forget how tiny they were compared to modern racers .... nice crack off that exhaust ..... proper racer, only instrumentation is a big rev-counter front and centre! πŸ™‚ ... thanks for posting George! πŸ‘

Glad you found interest in the vid.. A friend was a Triumph/Honda dealer, and I think I saw one of the works Daytona`s in his showroom, perhaps they were doing the rounds in the early seventies trying to drum up business at a time, when amalgamation with BSA and Norton was struggling to survive...?

The first triangular profile tyres I remember were the TT100`s which I fitted to my Domi, circa 1972..Happy days... (-:
The electric roller would be a bit of a godsend, no chance of a running jump start these days, and kick start usage on an old brit bike with high compression and a lumpy cam being reluctant to fire up would risk a heart attack... !!!

I think the TT100 tyre (with Dunlop K81 identification) followed the KR73 (front) and KR76 (rear) in production. The latter 2 were race tyres whereas the K81 was a road tyre. All were triangular in profile.

Agreed - starter rollers are a great piece of kit for starting a high compression four stroke without kickstart. I had a friend fabricate a set for me and it’s still in the garage.

The TT100 tyre was named after the Welsh Wizard motorcycle racer Malcolm Uphill. He was the first rider to break the 100 mph lap at the IOM TT races on a production Triumph. I knew Malcolm who was a very quiet, and relatively shy person but on a motorcycle he was very fast and smooth. He always made the amusing comment about his time racing Agostini and with him always getting the accolades and attention of the women, but what did I get remembered for, only β€˜A bloody tyre named after me’.

A lovely bike.. I had a 69 standard daytona in a photochromic blue, wrote it off in 1974 on a sweeping left hander when I hit black ice. Loved that bike and Triumphs metallic colours of the period. I have a 77 750 bonnie in Triumphs Cherokee Red, another photochromic period colour..
The daytona came from Tauntons BSA/Triumph/Norton dealer Vincent and Jerrom located in East Reach.. the shops smell of new bikes, rubber, castrol oils and leather still lingers in my mind... great days.

Well, there you go. πŸ˜„ I have the exact same bike, USA tank, bars etc.
I have fitted dual discs to the front end and Nikasil barrels with a Morgo high capacity oil pump.
My bikes been sorned for a little while as well, it has a little too much play in the gearbox primary shaft, which allows the drive sprocket to float too much. Its been tricky to find the reason , as everything seems correct, must sort this and get it back on the road..
