Hi all,
My MY22 Plus Four is giving a full fuel gauge reading (almost off the dial), even though I’ve done around 100 miles since last filling up.
A simple google search indicates a bad earth or the electronics within the lcd dash.
Has anyone else had this fault? And what did you do to resolve!
Cheers

I’m not saying there isn’t an issue, but I believe they all stay “showing full” for quite a few miles after filling up. How many miles depends on how much you put in the tank and how you drive. I stop filling when the pump auto shuts off, and mostly the gauge shows full for the next 70 - 80 miles, then drops rapidly to 3/4 full. It’s a Plus Six, slightly thirstier than a Four, so maybe 100 miles isn’t too unusual.
I zero the trip meter after filling up and start to think about refuelling after 240 miles, or thereabouts.
Fingers crossed that this may also be a “feature” on your car.

This might not be a fault issue as such. Morgan fuel gauges are known for their quirky readings. On our Plus Six if you fill it to maximum it will take approx 75 miles ( depending on driving speeds ) before it starts to show on the gauge, until that point it will show as full. The gauge then drops fairly quickly and seems to be true to used fuel at about 3/4 tank level, it then gets a little unreliable again around the 1/3 rd fuel remaini level.
To get around the inaccurate fuel gauge we zero the milage trip at a full refill , then look to refill again around 200 miles later.
If you search the TM directory there are quite a few posts about the issue of Morgan fuel gauges. dave

They hang on for quite a bit. Try after 150 miles & give it more right foot. You can easily get 54 mpg or 38 if you try

I suspect the shape of the tank plays a part, together with iffy electrics, the latter I believe can resolved with a little knowledge. I do as Andy Garrick advised me many years ago, and as advised by Davetherave above, fill the tank, zero the trip meter and aim to refill around the 200 mile mark.

Our 2026 Plus Four has a very linear gauge. From full, it falls away from the stop within 10-20 miles and within 50 miles is down to an indicated 3/4 of a tank.

That s normal . It is decreasing after more than 100 km . I go always at the petrol station after 400 km and add 27 litres for a full tank.

27 to add to fill the tank means 16 litres were left when you did the fill up. I have problems with that because i don't like stopping at petrol stations...it also means you could drive 200km more i think. I understand consumption is not always the same, so i bought a 2 litre reserve tank, just in case ;-)
