Has anyone any experience of the Revo Rack which uses vacuum suction clips to hold it in place. There are a number of photos on their web site showing is being used on a variety of Morgan’s and it is some £1700 cheaper than buying the official Supersport luggage rack. Revove rack is made by the boot-bag group and the web site is revo-rack.com

No experience, but I wouldn't feel comfortable relying on a suction cup to attach to my Plus Six. How long would the vacuum last during dynamic load conditions, and would there be any damage (due to either short-tem or long-term use) to the bodywork or paint? The MMC and Librands racks minimise that loading. Is it secure against someone wanting to remove it overnight? If not, that means I'd have to take it off and put it back on again each morning.
And the company mentions that it has been "independently tested and certified", yet the standard referenced states (my emphasis) "So-called magnetic or suction foot racks, i.e. roof racks whose attachment on the vehicle is only via magnetic forces or vacuum, are excluded from this document.", so caveat emptor!

Don't forget the skin of aluminium bodywork is quite thin, 0.8 to 1.2mm ? and is not structural
The MMC and Librands racks are properly designed and fix to load bearing points within the much thicker components as part of the chassis

Thanks for the responses so far, very helpful. I should have been clearer about saying the luggage rack is for a Supersport. On the Morgan Supersport luggage rack they use two vacuum suction cups to fix the rack to the boot lid

Yes, but the bottom of the rack is bolted to the car.

The revo rack is a brilliant bit of kit we bought one to go on the aero and double up on my sons z4.Real solid with no movement and no marks when you took it off. The cheapest for sale at the time were with the mx5 owners club. Had we not bought the six with the rack fitted I would be using it now.You need a bit of faith when you pump it up the only problem its very nickable. Sold it to a guy with a tr6 he loved it.

IMHO such racks potentially pose a danger to other road users if they fail. They may well have indicators to show full vacuum when fitted, but you cant see them whilst driving! I am surprised that any rack without some form of mechanical fixing or even a tether, is allowed to be sold.

I prefer the look of the Revo rack compared to the factory Supersport rack. But it really needs a couple of tethers at the top to be safe.

The luggage rack design on the SuperSport is another reason why we will not switch from a Six, we need a trustworthy rear rack to carry luggage while touring and the SuperSports present design partly using suction cups makes me cringe.
