Hello! I have had the 2019 Roadster for about a week. I removed the side curtains and was astonished at how much wind buffeting there is. I have mixed Canyon and freeway driving environment. Would adding wind wings make a significant difference?

All I can say is that given the temperatures we have suffered in the UK recently the wind turbulence side screens off is a huge benefit and you can always put them on again. I have a luggage rack with provision to carry side screens in their bag underneath. I have to say the car looks cute with them off as well. An extra bonus is our small dog sitting on passenger seat can stick his nose out into the breeze.

I have never found wind wings to work so I have always driven my Morgans with the side curtains on. I have tried Wind Wings on 4/4 Series 1s, Cowled Rad 4/4s, Plus 8s. My 2005 Roadster has the side curtains mounted on the doors, all the time. My Plus 4 has Brooklands screens, so I don't bother with the side curtains and get all the wind I want. Driven in VA, DC, SC, GA and FL so . . .

Side Curtains allow me to talk to my passenger, hear the radio, erect the top and eliminate the need for an extra large (extra $$) side curtain accommodating luggage rack. I have some Wind Wings somewhere in the garage gathering dust. Do you want them??

IMHO, your answer, if one is honest, (though the first time I was told this it peeved me) is no, wind wings make no difference aside from changing the sound and making it a hassle getting it in and out of a trad Morgan. However, we all like buying thingies for our Morgans, especially when they are new to us. You have two wind options that come with the car....(especially important if you use Motorways, which will give you a fine case of wind burn without planned protection.)

1. Fly with your top up but without sidescreens.

2. Drive with sidescreens up but without the top on.

Neither of these do much for the sound but they diminish a lot of the buffeting and human damage.

I fitted wind wings to the 1985 4/4 that we owned until 2014. They proved to be a nuisance when the side screens were fitted and did little for the buffeting when running without the side screens. I have not bothered with them since.

Scott, I'm with Lorne here. His two suggestions are, after so many attempts at trying to find a solution myself, the best. I also found that the roof up sides off option is the most comfortable. No peaked sweaty hat required and no burning from direct sunlight.
When growing up... a long time ago now! our family 4-4 had a zip out rear window and that was the best combo ever, roof up, sides out and rear window out. It achieved two things, greatly reduced the wind buffeting both noise and physical thumping and best of all good air through flow.
The rear wind block positioned behind the seats is decorating my house as frankly I really cannot see any change to buffeting or noise that it made... I'd love to see a wind tunnel test and if micro positioning helps.


My current car, a millennium plus4, doesn't go on great adventures anymore but I do intend to get Steve Summers to install a zip out window in the near future. I have and don't suggest it as a solution but if on country roads I pop the rear roof hold downs and this helps air flow. I certainly wouldn't recommend this for motorway or fast driving. I haven't tried it at speed but have had visions of levitating roofs and worse so buyer of my practices beware!

One other advantage of roof up is town driving.... traffic lights and congestion. People are far less likely to engage with you and this can be very distracting when you should be concentrating on driving!
