Was at the 75th MSCC bash last week & noticed most side window seals were like the photo below. I think I need to change mine (2005 Plus 4) to the same. As the current seals I have fitted (the 2nd photo) are just foam / neoprene strips.
Does anyone have the specific details of the exact seal strip used & where purchased in the UK ?

The dealer can supply Steve, and not expensive. They were upgraded aorind 2007, or a bit later as I recall.

they were indeed, but check you door shut lines first as if you have uneven gapping that will need addressing. I fitted them to my car and to be honest they don't look or perform any better than the old neoprene strip if your door tops fit correctly and the adhesive strips are not the best. Fairly sure I posted a description of how I did it, there are a couple of tricks you need to get them seated as it's a one shot fit! And I took some pictures too. The old strip though was still stuck like the proverbial and I included a description of how to remove that fibre adhesive strip easily.

They were under £30, Got mine from BHM.

If you also get some thin SA black neoprene you can scalpel out the shape of the top A pillar, this will stop the metal to metal chafing and add a welcome rain seal to that area

I have an 2005 3.0L Roadster and went with the later roadster (3.7L?) 'A' pillar seals and they work (like the ones in the first photo). Simply cut them for length. I believe they are an improvement.

Cheers,
Mark

That is also my opinion (a very cheap improvement) .I fittet them on my my 2005 4/4.
2 But as some M3 members wrote: They need a gap between th ich habe the a-pillar and tke side screens frame.

Worth considering Steve adding a carefully cut thin piece of self adhesive neoprene to sit on top of screen pillars. within the zig zag cross section. The hood header rail when clamped down then presses lightly on this to add a degree of water/wind proofing in this area. Did have a photo but unable to find at the moment.

ETA: Apologies, just noticed Cooperman has already suggested this.

Interesting to me as I bought a 2005 Plus4 from Richard Thorne a year ago and he replaced the side screen window pillars prior to sale. There were no rubber/neoprene seals and the side screens rattled like mad on the 400 mile journey home. Since then I have adjusted the angles of the side screen brackets and used some door seal rubber to reduce the metal to metal rattles. I had no idea there was a factory remedy. Now there is no rattle, no wind noise and no water ingress.

The neoprene is rubbish and does compress and allow the side screens to rattle.
I've replace the top couple of inches with thick/dense rubber..... no more rattling...🥳
