So... just found out that for the early Plus Six and Plus Four cars ( pre inner door handle redesign ). That the small plastic clip that connects the internal door handle catch operation rods together is now not sold separately. You have to purchase the complete inner door handle to get a clip.. at £110.00 +VAT per side. I suspect the clips value would be around £1.50 at most.

This clip, as mentioned several times on this forum has a habit of coming off or failing, if the clip is in OK condition and can be reused then Tie Wraps around the clip and rod will hold it together. In our case it came off and deformed in heat.. So it looks like I will be purchasing some Nylon 66 oblong bar and making clips on the milling machine.

I cant believe that Morgan are not stocking the items that keep the mechanicals connected.... what next.. maybe to change the spark plugs you have to buy the engine?? ( Joke )...

Why worry when the National Debt interest Britain pays would buy 1.5 Million +4 Morgans that would stretch from Exeter to to the Northern tip of Norway and back if placed end to end - (To Nord-cap if parked sideways on)...... Stats are boring I know and I do keep several of those nylon tie strips in the tool kit.

Unfortunately, they have to continue to make money from you after they have sold the new car.....all I would suggest is if you are getting some milled, I would do a batch as there may well be ongoing demand for them.

Without a clear picture of the part - looked on the other threads and the pictures are too blurred - maybe this part would do the same function. Technically it's for a car albeit an RC car....

Thank you for the replies.. the suggestions are not like the actual clip, its a very simple plastic block that the handles rods slot into and clip in position.
I will make two myself on my mill..
What annoys me the most is that I worked in an industry where we kept comprehensive stock of parts onboard at sea, we had to be able to fix/replace things at sea and/or make things.Certainly critical parts and known areas thought likely to fail.
A plastic clip costs almost nothing, so why not stock it, more so as its a known failure point.

This little issue has seriously stopped me from purchasing another Morgan product, we were thinking abou a supersport ( even though I don't like the front and back ) but to be honest the present mindset of Morgan toward spares completely puts me off.. This may sound totally cranky.. but so am I.
Recently I have run into several areas where it was impossible to buy parts in this country (UK), I have had to source carbon fibre block from Germany as not available in the UK and I even had to buy a Canadian bastard ( file type ) hand file as I could not source a quality UK made item... it makes me so fed up with the UK.. rant over....

I'm not surprised at your observations, but its not unusual these days, eg Mercedes oxygen sensors are £575 or there abouts, if its older stock, you have to pay a usually £125 to £175 to have the latest software update uoloaded onto the sensor and then paying to have in fitted and sync'd to the car via Mercedes diagnostic kit Rarely any change from a £grand plus. just for a sensor, that is notorious for failing especially on cars doing short journeys. It's bloody annoying, but if you like the brand you just build it into the ownership cost and grit your teeth, when it invariably happens again, hopfully within the 2 year warranty period.

Trouble is Morgans are such great fun, so you often have to bite the bullit, accept the supply issues and unjustifiable costs from time to time and savour what many other people can only ever aspire to own.

I know your point ref spares and fitting charges with Mercedes. We ran an AMG C63 coup from new, sold it one year after warranty ended due to poor service from our local dealers, it was very difficult to find both experienced techs and a honest dealer for the model of car. Plus every boy racer wanted to take it on.. spoilt the driving.. I much prefer driving our Plus Six, I know its quirky and ( being honest) not that well assembled, but I have spent five years working on the cars issues that crop up, sorting each in turn. I am still doing that.. So was not pleased that it was seemingly impossible to purchase a known failure item from Morgan, unless a not directly involved mechanism was purchased with it. The failure point in this case is a cheap clip that can be made.. but its started me thinking about the future of Plus Six parts availability for the future and how long we keep the car. I fear there will not be the same level of parts availability for the CX as there is currently for a Trad due to changing CX MY build specs.

I tend to agree the pre MY23 cars have lots of feature etc door latches and mechanisms that may be quite unique and therefore harder to source. But the mechanical etc should be well readily available, and with the slow down in new model year features changes....hopefully available for years to come, as the Plus Four at least is still the backbone of the range especially for exports. The Plus 6 post MY 23 might still be ok where it shares common parts with the Plus 4, for some time to come. THe one area I would be concerned for longer term is the Morgan wiring harness that replaced the BMW harness,

Sue knows me very well, and she knows I can allow little niggles to get under my skin, and I get itchy feet and look to change a car, sometimes for the slightest of reasons. Sue often wishes we bought cars I've owned previously as they are usually in much better shape than when I originally bought them. Some times a change is as good as a rest. the grass is always greener over there, and there's always another Morgan that might just tickle your fancy.....it's almost habitual, they get under your skin. The number of times she has said to me 'are you sure', knowing once it has gone I'll be hankering after another, each time kidding myself it will be different this time, things have moved on....only to not be too surprised when they haven't actually like a leopard changed it's spots.

Wonder if they have a different design for the door handle mechanism in the Supersport?
