No run today... too hot, but I did manage a circa 80 mile sunset run yesterday. I seem to have got the timing close to spot on, given I suspected many would be settling down after their evening meal and waiting for the football to begin, thus one of my usual routes up over The Dukes Pass Callander, Kippen, on to Lennoxtown and from there home. For the majority of the time I had the roads to myself... rumbling along in the olld Mog in the cool evening air as the sun was going down, what`s more to want.... (-: Occasional stops along the way to grab a pic or two, will hopefully manage to post one below.

Having recorded the game, I watched it circa 22:30 hrs. Thought it an interesting and very sporting spectacle from both teams, with plenty of goals to maintain general interest. Seems the England manager may have partially dug himself out of the hole he created given his decision making in the Argentina game... Not that I know or care much about football.
Well done England team, it seems you had skill enough to win the world cup, pity you were restricted from using it , though not sure I would be too chuffed to have to listen to football pundits going on for another 60 years about winning the world cup...!

Totally agree with you above football zero interest or fans of so take advantage of them all heads down getting pissed to utilise the quiet road conditions, I do hope the Spaniards teach the cheating bastards a lesson though.

Up the Falklands boys - right up.. Just remember the Belgrano Chris (skipper of the sub and friend and neighbour still has the ships log and Jolly Roger) would be more than happy to repeat the exercise on these rats.

when I grew up in Torbay you had 3 maybe 4 choices:-
1. Dad owns a farm / hotel . Make your career there.
2. work 6 - 9 months in hospitality & when the grockles go home it is life on the dole.
3. Go to Uni
4. Join the fuzz or the services

A lot of my mates joined the services just in time to enjoy the Falklands. I knew a few who never came back just because of dictator tried to prop up his rule & Thatcher cut costs by removing our defences.

it always amazes me how little we respect our veterans compared to the USA. Who amongst up would have yomped to Goose Green etc.

I was lucky I did 3 & went to the Godless of Gower Street.

Yes that is indeed a sobering thought John the choices were limited tbh and it was much the same for me in rural Norfolk albeit a few years earlier so I went for technology and engineering.

We moved down here 50 years ago now as The Decca Navigator Company HQ moved down as he kept his boat here the Uberous which of course we all called the Uterus.

We lost friends in the town over the FI job and our immediate neighbour Tim was No2 on Broadsword with a young family and he came back grey as they were stuck in the sound with two unexploded bombs embedded in the deck and still subject to Entenards attacking below mast height. A lot of brave boys and girls out there at the time.

Out of interest John an alumni from Churston lost his life in Ukraine helping out in a passive role.

I am disgusted at the way all our governments treat our heroes and this is the one area they should review urgently. To have them in numbers sleeping rough is a National disgrace that our incumbent Royals with massive military titles really could work to improve.

Great day out at relatively close Weeting steam rally with Chris (TheMorganeer). Frustrating start with poor traffic control getting to event but enjoyable once there. The rally seems to have doubled in size in the past two years with many more steam entries. Strong northerly wind kept temperatures comfortable but increased dust. A couple of entries that caught my eye.





Lovely 1910 Silver Ghost which was seen trundling around the showground in near silence.

My original PCB did fail, so l had the burnt tracks soldered, this was a partial success so I bought a replacement PCB for £200 from a breaker who was parting out a 2018 late model 4/4 Trad that uses the same PCB. I say the same PCB, but when fitting I noted the later 2018 version had benefited from having two external 5a fuses added by the manufacturer, presumably to protect some (if not all) of the vulnerable tracks on the board, see the following link and video.

Clearly the manufacturer was responding to the frequent failures of their earlier PCBs, how effective just adding fuses will be in improving reliability is debatable but at least (in theory) the fuses will blow before the delicate tracking burns out. While I have no concrete evidence the addition of fuses were part of a number of other less obvious improvements, it is possible the later boards enjoyed further mods to make them more robust?

For sure the fuses are evidence the manufacturer was responding to the earlier issues with their PCBs, so they may well have implemented other improvements that aren't so easy to spot? When the dash module arrived I was pleased to see the breaker had actually sent me the whole dash, this included all the gauges so the £200 I paid was actually a bit of a bargain.

I fitted the late model PCB 18 months ago, and so far it's been 100% reliable, only time will tell if it remains that way? However, the additional fuses can't do any harm, and the fact the 2018 4/4 board is 7 years younger than Monty's original should alone mean I have a fighting chance of enjoying many more years of reliable service.

Excellent Dave. Guess I'll have to do something similar! Mine's a 2010 registered car although made in 2009, hope I'm not tempting fate here as I'm still on the original but it does sound as though a direct Morgan moan may well have produced results. Of course Morgan would never admit liability to us, after all we only help pay for them to stay in business!
