So who on TM bought their first Morgan the earliest ? Not the age of the Morgan but the year you bought it .
I know I have been an AA member for 54 years as they gave me a gold foiled AA Atlas 4 years ago……..I don’t know why I keep paying but creature of habit .
My bid is 1971. I have not been able to look back at documentation , which I will do but that is with in 9 months to a year. Could have been 70 but…..
I cannot remember the late 60s on Kings Road at the Chelsea drug Store or the Stockpot. My wife gives up on me sometimes but we still have much to her chagrin, a fringed Biba light shade in the small back hall !
Best of luck, MM
PS Anyone remember the Morgan brochure featuring some ‘cool dude’ and the purplely mulberrry (?) Morgan in the Kings Road.on the front cover.
For those who have never been to town or live in the deep deep sticks, it’s in London, man !

Remember Biba in Kensingnton High Street ... then they moved to the massive old Derry & Toms building up the street ... was always impressed by the wonderful art-deco doors on the lift and the roof-garden .... though, in the early '70s most of my purchasing was in the somewhat more anarchic warren of the old Kenny Market ... hang-out of hippies and ne'er do wells 🙂

My 4 seater is a recent addition to the fleet by comparison to some of the others I've owned for 50+ years.

My 1947 4/4 was bought in 1960 for £30. FUO 919 is still going according to DVLA, It had F-type front wings, Special Standard engine, no starter motor and very dodgy wiring. I made a complete new loom by replacing every wire. In those days one could go down to the auto-electics shop in our small town to buy any specification and colour of wire by the yard. F H Douglas supplied an oversized nut (brass / bronze?) to be lapped into the steering box and a local engineering shop welded a broken valve rocker. Different times but I learned a lot.

JMcL, Loved FHDouglas who did work on my Morgan’s.
1960 as an owner of a Morgan will be hard to beat, did you buy it when you were still at school or a paperboy !!!?

Slight drift but I have a friend who bought a 4/4 new in 1969 (his 21st birthday) and he still has it, still on the.roqd.
Is that a record for longest ownership?

No, its just that I am now seriously old. I always dreamed of a +8 and bought a 2004 about 4 years ago. Unfortunately, beneath the gloss, it had some problems and was not as the dealer had promised. It went back and now the Morgan moment has passed.

Clearly , like me it has been a long held passion. Just being around them, reading about them and hearing about others enjoyment with them gives great pleasure. It was amazing to hear your story,

As an aside, I wonder who on TM might have covered the most miles in their Morgan(s) who is a TM type...? Not me for sure as I have only managed circa 30k miles since 2002..

Well, mine won't be the biggest mileage but my first 4/4 did 250000 and was still taxed a couple of years ago. I bought it from Packer Duncan in 1983. Drive in all weathers, in sickness and in health. The Roadster is having a quieter life.

It's amazing the dealership names that have come and gone over the years. Such simple cars, but amazingly capable. Bought my first 4/4 secondhand from Lifes in Southport..........in 1987.
