All those fake ads on the radio saying Octopus customer service is wonderful. Oh another flying pig just went over the house. I've found Octopus customer service to be very decent. Someone always answers the phone or responds to emails which, in itself, puts them ahead of almost all service providers I've dealt with. I have several friends with them too and they're all quite happy. Scottish Power are basically criminals and I had to "fight" both E On Next and the Energy Ombudsman to get a large rebate from E On who'd been massively overcharging me due to a defective, newly installed, smart meter (gas).

You can add me to that list as well - I've previously had accounts wih npower, Eon and Bulb and had monumental billing fuckups with all of them that took an age to sort out. Customer service was appalling. Been with Octopus for five years now - they missed a bill one month, I emailed them and it was sorted with 24hrs and they gave me a credit as an apology. Many moons ago I lived in a small flat in Colchester and was getting continually harrased by British Gas regarding an unpaid bill. However I didn't have a gas supply to the house. Again took an age - was threatened with baliffs etc. I finally managed to get a manager to come round, and only then did they accept there was no gas supply to my flat. There was a gas meter outside my front door, and he wanted to know who's flat it serviced, but I politely advised that it was not my problem and may be he should knock some doors.......

You can sign me up too for the Octopus fan club. I had been with SSE, some of whom were literally criminals (they recruited ex-convicts from South Africa as doorstep salesmen) and then British Gas who were consistently unreliable. I moved to Octopus several years ago, and on the rare occasions I've needed customer service, they have been very quick and efficient.

I moved to Octopus several years ago, and on the rare occasions I've needed customer service, they have been very quick and efficient. We went from SSE via a couple of small companies to British Gas. It think we were transferred to BG after the previous company went bust. The main reason we left BG was the infuriating customer service. The advertising led us to try Octopus, and they have been great, though their EV lease prices could be cheaper!

Thanks Jon. That is what I would prefer too. The "smart" one is not available at present anyway, due to fluctuation in wholesale prices. I now know why I could not move - my FiT is provided by Eon Next, so in the process of moving supplier. The battery system only went in in early June. If you are on FiT unless it's the very tail end pricing it's probably not worth moving to SEG as FiT pays you for generation as well as assumed 50% export where as SEG only pays for the units you actually export. and the SEG rates have recently dropped.Once you transfer Fit to SEG there is no going back

Not so bothered about the export Mark - but I'd like the night time cheap supply rate...
