Ian, our Son and his South African wife have lived in St Columb Major self build log cabin and 2 acres of Organic vegetable producing land and now also have a home in St Eval and both are proper villages with plenty of real locals doing the things a smallish community do with full easy access to quieter surfing beaches.

They swim or surf at least once a day, normally very early or late on after work during the week. They do this all year round and love the community around these activities.

A beautiful part of the world plus, getting back to a motorised theme, St Eval has an absolutely brilliant outdoor go kart circuit.

I can recommend the Looe and Polperro areas on the south coast.
Lived here for 14 years.wish i had moved here 30 years earlier. A balance of holiday homes and residents. Active local events and social life, even in the winter. Towns full of privately owned shops rather than big chains. 45 minutes from Plymouth City Centre. Rail connections. Beautiful beaches and Harbours, Restaurants. Easy access to main roads.
