Paul,

You could always seek out a Pre MY23 car sans airbags and traction control. I orignally wanted a MY23 or more recent car, but the steering wheel , lack of wood dash etc. wasn't to my taste at the time. Hence I got one of the later MY22 with wood dash, motolita wood steering wheel, so much more in keeping with the traditional Morgan I love and enjoyed and the car interior looks stunning. Trouble is on occasion in the wet, I would benefit from the traction control...........

I dont know if if your wheel is black or silver, but i have painted my wheel in the same color of the body and it looks beter. It is not too difficult to remove the part to be painted.

Thanks for the thought John, but 'm still in love my '25MY car, but a good thought about painting the spokes Thierry. My spokes are black, I did wonder if it could be wrapped to improve the look, but I am really after a smaller wheel, as that made such a huge difference to the feel of my previous ARP4 and I still have that little Momo hanging on my wall, looking for a home........

Just back to the caveat that in the UK, removal or decommissioning of an airbag which was on the car ex-factory will likely cause issues:

AI Overview

Having a steering wheel without an airbag is illegal for road use if your car was originally manufactured with a factory-equipped airbag.

Vehicle Inspections and MOT Rules
Factory compliance: Under standard roadworthiness testing (like the UK MOT test), any safety item fitted by the maker—including the driver airbag—must stay present and work properly.

Warning lights: An airbag warning light that stays on or fails its proper startup check sequence will cause an immediate test failure.

Removals: Swapping a standard airbag wheel for an aftermarket racing or deep-dish wheel without an airbag violates inspection rules for street-driven cars.

Insurance and Legal Penalties
Insurance invalidation: Removing safety gear and failing to notify your insurance provider can void your policy or lead to denied claims in an accident.

It's probably a year since a group of Morgan owners visited MotoLita and asked about their steering wheels with airbags; the response at the time was that they were working on the issue with MMC. Might be worth asking them first before making any decisions.

I have sent a message to Motolita and will post here when I get a reply. In the meantime, thank you all for persuading me that I have been wrong for the last 63 years for safely driving a car without an airbagged wheel. I really do not know how I have survived to tell the tale.

Motolita have replied that they are not continuing to experiment with an airbag centre hub. What a shame, but I guess it was proving too difficult for such a small firm to develop?

I would think their PI insurer has told them to steer well clear (potential litigation) when some poor numpty splits his head open in an accident
