With RichardV6 & Hawki we went to this laid back Suffolk show.

The hot rod is European champion have done 0 - 100mph is 0.9 second. I think it does the ¼ mile in 5.73 seconds with terminal speed a little over 250 mph 😮 this from a mere 4000 bhp on nitro. I'm sure the very informative guy on the stand mentioned they are pushing 12,000 bhp in the USA now. This one is a classic of the track.

Each run costs c £2k.

The low cost Lotus aka Locust looked a bargain & we met some new Mog owners of the 2 tone 4/4.

Great day out if a little dusty.

We were shown the titanium clutch housing and purpose of straps if supercharger decides to part the engine of the top fuel dragster. Some mild reassurance to driver if things go wrong. Although the 3 - 4G forces on a run would be relatively low to a fighter pilot its the sudden transition to negative G on passing the line that put the greatest toll on driver, especially as terminal speeds approaching 350mph are now being acheived!

The drag cart complete with parachute on the back had just been finished and hadn't run as yet.

Couple in the attractive red/black 1997 4/4 had only recently come into Morgan ownership, it being a life long dream.

Not just USA - fastest top fuel run at Santa Pod was three years ago - 3.7 secs on the 1/4mile* and a terminal speed on 321mph. Driver was Ida Zetterstrom and her car had around 11000bhp.


*although Top Fuellers only run 1000ft now, rather than 1320ft of the 1/4 mile - they were finding that the extra speed gained on the 300ft meant they were running out of track!
