Sat at Watford Gap services. Golf has a puncture. No spare tyre, and the goo stuff hasn't sealed the hole. Waiting for the AA to come and relay us to KwikFit. Currently a two hour wait for the AA.
So happy. Supposed to be going up for a GIg, so fingers crossed we get up there in time........

I carry a very small screwdriver and some neoprene profiles, and superglue. As an emergency fix. With the weight off the tyre, totally deflate the tyre. Identify the puncture, and remove the nail or screw. Then either insert the screwdriver with some superglue on the shaft, and pull it out fast, or for bigger holes, insert a small plug of neoprene covered with superglue, and pull the screwdriver out fast. Wait a few minutes, then reflate the tyre. This will get you home. Because in the Highlands it could be a lot longer than a 2 hour wait.
Obviously a bodge, but better use of time than hanging around. Then get it sorted at home.

Sorry to read that Phil. Hope you get sorted in reasonable time to get to your event. For all my "small" / everyday cars I have always purchased a Spacesaver spare. Might take up space in the boot, but it is a good "get one home". The Morgan(s), Land Rovers &c have full sized spares...

Not even a jack with this car! If we were in the MG or Mog we'd be fixed and in Manchester by now

Me too Graham, and they aren't that expensive. They take up very little room and the jack etc fit in the dish. Sure beats waiting for hours.
Why is there only one monopolies commission??

Sorry to read that, nothing more frustrating than relying on others for something one could sort out one`s self in 15 mins as opposed to waiting hours... Been there done that when a digital dilemma incapacitated my good lady`s car a few years back... Not fun.
Dave`s thinking on carrying puncture repair plugs is something I really should get round to, also a jack and wheelbrace.....No point in carrying a spare pyro fuse on most cars as it tends to be buried deep inside sometimes requiring the dash to be stripped out.... !!!
Yeah the advances in automotive tec depend upon having a mobile phone to call for help... isht..!
Hope as i am typing this you are in sunny Manchester ...fingers crossed.

We've made it as far as KwikFit. She's due a new lease in a few months so will definitely get a space saver once we know what it is....
