I picked up a puncture at The Bentley Drivers Club day at Silverstone and my tyres are 2010 Yokohama's, so time for a new set. This will be the 4th. new tyres in 42,000 miles over 36 years so I haven't ever worn them out. It seems Yokohama no longer make 205/60 R15 tyres and I'm inclined to fit something more at the budget end from the Far East as they'll go out of date before I wear them out and rarely drive in the wet or winter. Any thoughts or experience? Kumho's or Nexen's ?

Uniroyal Rainsport (The Rain Tyre).
205/55 R16 91V for me the best tyre ever on my Plus 8 run @ 21 psi perfect for maximum traction with no rolling. 15" tyres

Got five fitted at my MOT Indy for £400 on the MMC 16” lightweight alloys.

Cheap for your safety and repeat at 5 years happily.

Out of the two makes you’ve listed Kumho tyres were used frequently by sprinters as they are soft and grippy. They don’t last long but you’ll at least have half a chance of wearing them out before they go off/hard/out of date.

Yes. I am looking as well.

There is no other components as important on a trad than its tyres. If you spend money on anything, spend it on good rubber. I have always used the best I can find. This is after all, our hobby. Never anything below a "V" rating.

Sadly, (the developed world made an inexplicable aesthetic choice to remove air and replace it with metal 25 years ago. ooo) . 15" and even 16" tyres have become hard to find up there. Outside of those areas I can get anything I want in 15".

Longstone has some Michelin Primacy 3s "coming in" 205 60R15. Fabulous tyre. Ignore the Goodrich they sell.

BTW, I have also used 195 65R15s, a good swap and a size that is easier to find.

L.

I have TOYO's on two of my V8 Morgans, seem ok and no worse than the Yokohamas used previously.
