My notes for my 1986 4/4 says the clutch is from a Ford Scorpio 2.0L 23 spline, 215mm plate

Actually, scratch that advice, it's the new clutch type required by my Ecotec engine. For the original, I'd look for a Fiesta clutch.
Also check the bell crank on the firewall has not closed up, they are notorious for the welds failing and the angle becoming more acute, resulting in a heavy clutch with insufficient movement.
