Chaps, my car was not supplied with a handbook, does anyone have a view on the best spark plugs for a 2.0l Duratec ?

I would go to my local motor factor and ask for Ford Mondaeo plugs.

I did a web search to see what the plugs were, and got asked several questions about year etc. Might make no difference mind you!

I'd start off by seeing what is fitted, then I'd go down Halfords way and look in their book as well. Halfords did have a nasty trick of assigning their own part number, but if you find them on the shelf - not that hard to read the labels on the box!

In general terms, I like NGK plugs as I've never had a duff one, unlike Champion who sold me a set of 4, all faulty. Never used Champions since.

I've tried all sorts of fancy and expensive plugs in the past, but have never really seen any advantage over the standard ones.

Did quite a lot of research on the plugs for the +4 (2004).
The correct plugs are motocraft Ford part number 1307093. (1S7J 12405 EB).
Alternative plugs are NGK PTR 6 F 13 or Champion Eon 3.
The gap is set to 1.3 but there is much talk on the Talk Ford site that this gap has been revised to 1.0.
It would seem that the 1.3 gap creates a very strong spark, but puts too much load on the HT leads and coil.
The reduced gap eases the load and lengthens the service of the coil & HT leads.
Apparently there is official acceptance of this variance by Ford but the plugs I got wear set to 1.3!
I got the correct titanium plugs from a Ford dealer at £52 for four, the NGK Packs at Halfords were £21 ish.
Expensive, but I am happy that te original spec is maintained.
+ new air filter and the car is so smoooooth!
