Yes, interesting, but probably not surprising. Surely, by the very nature of the cars, 'Classic' owners are more concerned with looks, and 'Aero' owners more with performance? I would expect more 'Aero' owners to pick up on a rumour that the cars were to be made heavier, and/or with less power.

If you wanted to draw a line between owners of trads and Aero 8s, I wouldn't like to do that, it is indeed not surprising that more people with a trad background complain: They are many thousands but there are 500 Aero 8 owners only.

Rod cheers

Hi Lorne

Not trying to start an argument (honest) and appreciate it is a bit of a throw-away comment, but why not change the bangers and mash to Sushi (which I like smile ) or a more healthy option for example of less exotic food.

My point is 'Bangers and mash' have been great, are great, but why cant we sometimes have something different? Doesn't make bangers and mash 'offensive' or 'outdated' necesarilly but why not a change?

I remember the old adage: " if you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you always got" and maybe they dont wnat what they always got! I certainly don't run my life like that.

As I said a menial point but one that has a bit of merit in the argument.

I must also say to all and sundry, I am very happy to be 'shot down in flames' over my liking the new logo as something like that is very subjective. Tell me you don't like the design (for whatever reasons) by all means, just don't tell me I am wrong for liking it.

All IMHO and my 2p's etc...

You make a good point. I adore sushi. love Just can't see it at the old Works. There is/was something so wonderfully time-warpish about the old staff, the old buildings and bangers & mash suited it well.

As for an aesthetic comparison on the old wings versus the new wings..I would never venture that far. Subjective evaluations are just that. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you say you like the looks, that is fine with me.

However, as noted, the VERY first principle of advertising is to NEVER alter one's logo, even if you can better it. The consequences can be grave, so why spend a huge sum to create a an unnecessary risk?

Here is an analogy. I don't really like the GoMoG logo (to the left). My wife, once a commercial artist, has often told me it could be slicker. However, it was the club logo for 25 years. Two of my departed moggie buddies (sorely missed) designed and had it made together. After 15 years on the internet, it is instantly recognised by 10's of thousands.

Do you think I should change it?

In vino veritas.

It has often been speculated that the GoMoG badge inspired the Aero front end. innocent

i just think that a logo which has lasted almost an entire century surely does not need to be changed, they could have at least waited until the centenery and then had a major over-haul of the logo. the logo is the face of the MMC and i feel once agen, MMC has made a change simply for the sake of it, don't you think?? tis a sad day frown

I disagree, as do HSBC, Pepsi, Coca Cola, Barclays Bank etc.

A total (thus rendering it unrecognisable) change is definitely a no-no but a general updating I would suggest is sometimes necessary.

The irony here is no I don't think you should change it if it is recognisable but I definitely do think you should update it. I agree with your wife entirely.

And on another thought do you really think your departed friends would really have wanted you to be stuck in a time warp just for their sakes? I somehow doubt it.

Of course what I also believe very strongly is that it is entirely up to you whether you change it or not. Your shout and your perogative. smile
