Today I discovered that the front indicator lamps take in water on my +4 (2008). Does it come in around the lens or from the inside of the front wing, or perhaps both ways? How can I prevent this from happen?

I doubt much gets through the wing because there is the spacer between the wing and lamp unit. So most of it probably gets between the lens and lamp unit. Making a seal is tricky, clear silicon may work. There are other options of sealant and gaskets to consider. I can't quite recall how the lens fits - I need to strip one and look.

Carefully....drill a small hole in the bottom of the lens. You can't stop it getting in but you can show it the way out!

Did this on a rear light cluster of my first Golf GTi, no idea how it got in as the cluster was a sealed unit but the hole did the trick.

I had similar problem with a front indicator on my mog and used some caravan mastic tape that was in garage and appears to have fixed it. It is a common problem and I amaze people when I point it out to them and jokingly suggest they it is a feature Morgan add to tell if you are parked on the level (acts like a spirit level!)

I had to replace both front indicators on my 2005 Roadster because of water ingress. Both rusted solid. There was no seal between lamp & wing, although the replacements came with a neoprene gasket.
After fitting, I sprayed plenty of waxoil around the back of the wing where the wires came through.
Unfortunately, I'll never know if this worked, as the car went into self-destruct mode shortly after doing this ( No, it wasn't the cause!).

I looked at this option as I had one rusty side which I managed to release, clean up and fit a new fibre washer (which had disintegrated)

I discounted drilling as these lamps are tilted and water would still gather below the lens. I opted for a liberal coating of vasoline inside and spayed with waxoil all around the back
