I agree, its a very ugly dash. gloomy How are they thinking?
As Dave says, "what are you looking at?". I love driving in the dark and have all my white instuments glowing. And the car seems to go better in evening/nights. love

I had my plus4 up to 195 bhp and it is TOTALLY different from the mkIII Roaster I have now. Personally I enjoy the Roadster much much more. A matter of personal preference I guess. If someone is at that decision point, the best advice is go for LONG test drives in both cars and go into red mist mode and lazy cruising mode in both. Remember a tuned plus4 feels like a normal plus4 below 4500rpm (but noisier).

don't disagree .. but the Roadster is £10,100 more than a +4 ...

You can never have too much power, but there is something quite enjoyable about wringing a +4 at high revs if it has been 'fettled' smile

I think the dilemma is that the traditional dash had two dials in the centre, basically a similar solution to the classic Mini, and easy peasy for RHD and LHD.

At some point they went for a classic two big and four small gauges, which is my favoured layout. I want a matched pair in front of me with the supplementaries to the left. I don't mind whether that's four in a row, as I have, or two by two, which was how they were before that.
The Aero 8 kept this layout as far as I know, so this trend with the Trads can be no more than 'fashion'.
For me too this is a deal breaker - I'm not prepared to look at something like that in a new car, nor pay extra to get it altered.

Other notable cars which come unstuck in the dash department are the Weismann, and Cobra replicas.
It's the main reason I didn't trade up my Roadster for the next generation. sick2

I couldn't agree more. Let's hope someone at Morgan takes note of what is being discussed here, although it would appear they don't.

I tried to get the pre 2008 dash when I ordered my plus4 in 2008. The new dash had just been introduced but I got a firm NO from MMC.

But it could be different now. Back then the new dash was introduced across all 3 Trads. Now, two of the Trads still come fitted with the same dash as the old Roadster. Should just be an easy switch. And the customer is supposed to be king when it comes to a bespoke Morgan. The other option is of course an MK aftermarket dash, but I resent having to pay extra to put Morgans botched job right. The more I think about these issues the more I think I will go with the sweet and feisty Plus 4. Before this the Roadster was a definite sell for me, but no more.

The nightmare scenario would be if Morgan decided to introduce the new Roadster dash across all Trads. swear mad2

But I don’t think that will happen. Morgan seem to think the new dash is a unique selling point for the Roadster and something to distinguish it from the other two Trads doh

Agree, its not good to buy a Roadster and "have to" go to MK to sort out the dash.
I cant see how MMC could considder this dash a "unique selling point" for the Roadster. I suspect they realise it is quite the oposite but the gauges are used because they tie in with the ECU from the mustang. I also suspect that because of the same ECU the request for the old style dash will result in a firm NO from MMC. Just speculating, hope I an wrong.

I was thinking along the same lines - that MMC may be more or less forced to use Mustang instruments because they are using the Mustang engine. And those instruments are huge - too big to put in front of the steering wheel. And having the rev counter over on the passenger side seems wrong to me - my wife would not be in the least bit interested in looking at it - she'd rather keep her eye on the speedo!
And, no I don't like this dash either. I am with DaveW with two big gauges in front and four small ones to the side. Must be the tradionalist in me.
