We've been down to Derby today and there is very little activity at petrol stations along the way. I filled up at Woodall Services (M1)at lunchtime and there was only one other car on the forecourt.
It seems that the morons all have full tanks now. Oh, hang on a minute, I've got a full tank.......

Hi Wirewheel, yes I am a member of the AA which would be my first call if I was in trouble.

Hi Frank, I was suggesting that especially as you are an AA member that your trip be supported by the AA. I would have thought that they would be more than happy to support you and your Help for Heroes journey.
The AA press office has an email address should you want to contact them.
