I have been looking at a sports exhaust for my plus 4 ..
A friend in our local club has a car the same age mine with a sports exhaust ..He says it is very tiring on a long run and also renders his radio useless,
I followed him last Saturday for about 100 miles on our local MG run around Derbyshire and it sounded great.
But he was brain dead by the time he got home..think I prefer my radio and ipod.....the sound is good any way with the standard exhaust..
But we are all different..

Thanks. This is pretty much what my dealer said. Sounds great to a pedestrian when you are pulling away, but will leave you feeling drained and exhausted ( doh) when you arrive at your destination. Perhaps the new Aero Exhaust is a little more refined ?

I have just put a Librands manifold and cat on my 2010 plus 4 and am very pleased with the results. The rest of the exhaust system is standard.

The exhaust sound is quieter, deeper and throatier. However, my wife can now talk to me when we are travelling at motorway speeds, which is a mixed blessing! There is also a little more power.

I am also in the process of installing installing individual throttle bodies which is proving to be challenging.

I've a Librands system on my 4/4 Sport. I know it's not the same as the Plus4 but the noise issues at speed are much the same and I am currently experimenting with silencer dimensions to see if there is a nice half way house between the standard system and
Librands.

I'll be interested to see how you get on with the throttle bodies both in performance gains but also noise wise as well. I'm in discussion with Mark at the factory at the moment about a setup for my car. Just need to have a chat with my insurers first!

It has been a lot of fidling around to get it to fit and it is almost completed. The motor will start now, but there is a little bit of tidying up to do before it goes on the rolling road.
Chas supplied the parts - raceline, jenvey and omex.

For the cost of throttle bodies and suspension upgrades you could swap your 4/4 for a Roadster thumbs

Perhaps it is because we are also bike riders but we found it very pleasant and not at all tiring. If you drive sedately it is a low burble but if you stamp on the gas it produces a bit of a howl. I like it. On ours there is a little internal vibration or ringing in the pipe under hard acceleration at higher revs. I will see if we can get this resolved. It may not apply to all of them. It also pops a little on the over-run but a lot of people like that. Essentially it is the same as used on the Plus 4 SS. Perhaps an SS owner could comment too.

At motorway speeds conversation is no problem but you can not hear the radio. We found it reasonably comfortable with the side screens up. I suspect it would be hard to hear the radio more because of wind and road noise than the exhaust noise.
