Excellent. Seems like it is still a factory fitted option - not advertised as such but there if you ask for it. wine

Maybe these cars are destined for a market where wing side lights are permitted. I don't know but perhaps Australia.

I took my 4/4 out for a spin last night and I realised just how much I like the wing mounted sidelights fitted. Even after 7 years of ownership, they provide a visual point of reference and are (don't laugh) really friendly at night

I also seems to have a special relation to vintage lights (if I knew the WMSL were still possible to order I would have done that, now probably do it myself). I sometimes browse ebay being very fashinated about some of the old jewels found there...Lucas, Hella, Bosch...Dear Dr Morgan, is there a diagnos existing like Vintage Light Fetishist Disorder something... crazy2

Ahh the VLFD can only be solved by a dose a Lucas Knights of the road nurse.

Seriously, wing embelishers as they are now known, (you cant use the words wing mounted side lights due to EU regulation 476/b section 47a 2008-10 paragraph 187 subsection 42 as amended by the 2011 act paragraph 1) were fitted by the factory but without bulbs inserted (the bulbs could be found lose in the glove box), for a number of years. I am not sure if the wiring is in place now but it used to be. I am sure if when ordering you took the dealer to one side and mentioned wing embelishers your car would be fitted with them!

My 2008 car came with the sidelights fitted but with the cables disconnected. I had them reconnected and the parking lights in the headlights disconnected, and the authorities have never complained. For me it is a safety issue as the wing sidelights give a good impression of the real width of the car when driving in the dark.

I repainted my 1961 +4 last year and haven't put the wing lights back on. I miss them and plan to re-install them this month.

I prefer the smaller wing lamps, as installed from 1953-75. They are still available, and might even cost less than the later wing lamps.
