Is there actually any difference between +4 and Roadster and - if i order a +4 with 16" SSW mounted will it be Build with a wider Body than a +4 equipped with 15" ?

As far as I am aware the Roadster has a wider front frame but obviously wings are trimmed to correct width for whatever hubs/ wheels/ tyres you have ordered. The body 'tub' is the same width on 4/4, +4 and Roadster.

I believe they are now all common.

Reading your thread title my answer was going to be "enough to take a decent grasp of... But not too much"

Someone more knowledgeable than me should answer this, but here is the information provided me by a dealer:

Trad wings (except new plus8) are produced from the same mold, and are cut from the "inside" to suit the body/axle width. The position of the headlights are always the same when measured from the "outside" of the wings and inwards, as well as the space inside for wheels. There may be mechanical limitations to wheel width other than "wing width".

The "tub" is the same for all.

For cars up to 2011 I believe there where tree car widths:
4/4 narrow width
Plus4 medium width
Plus4 Sport widest
Roadster widest

From 2012:
4/4 narrow width
All others widest

Also, roadster hubs are different I have read somewhere on this forum...

If this is true, then maybe they will use different hubs depending on wheel type you order for the Plus4. I see from the configurator you can spec. the Roadster alloy wheels on a Plus4, but not on the 4/4, so there must be some difference there.

I was told by the factory guys at the Classic Car Show that if you order a Plus 4 with Alloys and then have problems selling it in years to come as most people consider Morgan's come with wires.

That the factory put on wings to match the width of the track and that the hubs for the wires plus the wires would have their outward edges uncovered so illegal if fitted to car with wings trimed to fit alloys.

The advised that the chassis of all the classics and the tubs were the same width and only the wings and area round the headlamps were changed to suit axle and wheel widths.

Therefore they suggested only ordering a car with wires

Thanks for The answers. To be correct: i m Not thinking about alloy wheels, i m not sure if i want the 6x15" or the 7x16" SSW for my anticipated +4 and wanted to know if its Build with wider wings if ordered 7x16".

Certainly not the case with (original) Plus 8s, they only came with alloys as the wires at the time couldn't cope with the torque!

This is interesting. Is it now the case that a Plus 4 has the same wing width regardless of whether you specify the standard stainless wires or the black sport wires? Can anyone verify this?

If you order the black wheels with 205/65 R15 tyres you will get guards 10mm wider than the stainless with 195/60 R15 tyres. Note that the 205/65 tyres have a radius of 16mm more than the 195/60 tyres. This equates to a greater ground clearance which you may find an advantage.

My very strong recomendation is to specify 205/65 tyres and suitable wheels regardless of whether black or stainless. If you have 205/65 R15 tyres you can also use the narrower 4/4 wheel and tyre as a spare.
