Looking at the Morgan protector I see that it does not extend all the way to the curve just in front of the hood mounting point. I would have thought it desirable to protect this pint too.

Very helpful to see that I seem to be the only one with problems making them stay on. I've even tried bigger washers to trap the edge protector in place.
What the postings have done is given me enthusiasm to try again, so I will!

Seems there are two different types available. One is a "U" form that simply covers the edge and the other is a sculptured and angled plate the covers the forward face of the inside quarter panel. This is the one I am thinking of.

Thanks Guys for all the suggestions, will certainly follow them up.  It seems this is a "recognised problem" and basically caused by the inherant restricted entry in and out of the vehicle. You would think MMC would have responded to this and designed some protection as part of ongoing developement. That's assuming they get feed back from owners about gripes and "design faults" etc. Just a thought........do you think MMC lurk here?!   Neil.

They did, as a side effect of modifications required by legislation changes. The door length (and hence the aperture) increased by 2 inches somewhere around Sept/Oct '97  Cheers,

I ordered a set of stainless edge protectors for my 1995 4/4 and the profile was all wrong. I returned them to the vendor and bought a set of door edge protectors for a pickup truck, trimmed them to fit, loosened the screws holding the trim, slipped the protectors over the trim and tightened the screws. So far, they have done the job of preventing wear to the trim and only cost about 7 USD, compared to 60 USD for the stainless pieces. John
