The factory from what I can recall, can do a S1 upgrade to sidepipes... however I think that it was in the region of 2-3k!!!

I figure this would include the sidepipe exhaust though - which if I'm honest I wouldn't want.

Plus I'm sure thre would be a taker for my existing sport pipes - which should be worth a good few 100 as a new set is 1200+ fitting plus VAT...

so maybe the whole job for <1500 quid perhaps.

Then I'd need a diffuser.

Hmmm too may tempting ideas and not enough disposable income!

On the Aero 8 price list, they charge £250.00 plus VAT for side pipe preparation. Morgan Price Lists, including Aero 8

They would probably charge more than this as it would entail taking the wings off, but the cost of the exhaust at £1,000.00
compares badly with the £300.00 charged by JP Exhausts for a better-sounding alternative. smile

I reckon that doing it this way you could probably get away with circa £1,000.00 and then the diffuser, for which we have no costs as yet. cheers

Sounds almost reasonable - and with the option of switchable tips, it would mean the oppotunity of takign the car back on track which is a big draw...

Is it not possible to modify the existing wings( cut out a small section and just buy the aluminium trim surround from MMC...

I guess... I figured there might be a bit more to it than that though?

Thing is if it starts going down that route then you could go for a completely custom set up with mutiple exits (2 each side side by side would be cool!)

Mr tony, does the sidepipe conversion involves the fitting of brand new wings? If it does, then surely your old wings should worth at least £4-500 each, new wings from MMC cost £800....

Err and don't I know it! 3 months after picking up my aero I damaged the front of the car in a 5mpg shunt. Purely superficial damage. Took me a long long time to get new wings. The S1 wings were completely out of stock at the time.

Being an S1 - to get wings with siddepipe holes you'd need GTN wings, which given they only made 12 GTN's, would mean they would probably be made of unobtaneum..

This is probably the main thing that puts me off this kind of update - once you ahve CUSTOM bodywork, let alone low volume, any bodywork issue / dent etc becomes a major pain the the arse...

Do like the SLR idea on the sidepipes - great thinking!

Aeroman,

Good that you like the new sound!

I don't want to be a killjoy but is there a bubble above the fourth screw?
