Hi
Just on my first decent run in the new to me Mog (4/4 1997). Have done 280 miles on the first leg of a round England tour. As you may have spotted there has been a bit of rain over the last day or two.
I have a small leak somewhere behind the centre of the dash resulting in a small pool dropping just in front of the gear lever. Would not be too concerned but it's passing by the fuse block.
Any one any ideas where this is likely to getting in and is there a quick easy fix.
Thanks for any suggestions
Cheers
Chris

Any water finding it's way through the bulkhead tends to drip at the lowest point but could be coming in elsewhere. Places to look, the grommet where speedo cable enters and hairline gap between the scuttle ( under the bonnet tape) and ash frame, in both cases seal with loctite premium silicone available from halfords for £6, it's much finer consistency than bathroom grade. If sealing the gap under the scuttle run a strip of masking tape above and below the gap

I have chased the origins of many leaks that wind up dripping on my leg, as has been suggested the scuttle and ash frame joint is a favourite route. I have glued a rubber seal (woollies) to the scuttle, under the bonnet. This provides enough ground to seat securely onto the scuttle and privide space to adhere the under bonnet tape for a trad look. The job looks fairly neat, and so far is preventing the water from the bonnet/ scuttle from ingress. Other sites of ingress I have found is under the bonnet tool box (1988 4/4) and water that made its way to a plate on the scuttle directly above the steering shaft. Window wiper gaskets are yet another site of ingress. Anyway - stopping water from these sites is only part of the problem as water can find many other ways into the cockpit. I'm struggling to believe that Dave W hasn't come up with a neoprene fix for this thread? Are you OK Dave ?

As I posted elsewhere I had great fun over Easter picking up my new Plus 4 and driving it back to Munich. But I had exactly the same problem with water dripping from the bar next to the fuse box - meaning that I had to drive with one hand on the wheel and the other holding a towel under the dash. The view from the garage here was "you've got a real Morgan", and I understand that such leaks are notoriously difficult to find.

"They all do that, sir" !! I've just got used to carrying a towel or two - but then I don't need to worry about lots of electrical items in my old motor Cheers,

Thanks everyone, I have now sealed the wiper entry, top of scuttle and around the heater intake. It seems to have worked as the sun has come out !!!
