To take up Paul's point about the number of 'Rag Tops' and 'Can Openers' running about 'Top Down'. I drove 200 clicks through rural East Anglia on a beautiful 'late' summers day (12/09) and was amazed at the number of, mainly, Mazda MX5 and 'Boxsters' running with their lids on. Also, in 200 clicks I was only flashed once by an Austin Healey; Topless as would naturally be expected.

In France, I have been flashed/waved at by virtually very thing from a XK 120 to a Portugese Furniture Delivery Lorry. Two motor cycle Gendarmes pulled in front of me - one from each side - and turned in the saddle to give me a 'Thumbs Up' salute!

The reception received from 'Pedastrians' was no less spontaneous. I did my bit for Anglo - French Relations with a little Boy in our local Supermarket Car Park. His face said it all as he sat behind the wheel.

Cann't wait to be able to spread a few smiles and a bit of happiness around once more........

I've always had the impression it was much worse in Germany.

Obviously, the motor indurstry knows very well that people want to BUY roadsters or convertibles but don't want to drive in an open car. The windscreens become longer and longer and with side screens and other devices there is a hole left that is smaller than a proper sun roof used to bee 30 years ago... Fortunately there are Morgans.

And I too am amazed at how many people have the roof up on sunny days.

I know it can be a bit chilly in the winter; however, I actually prefer winter driving (with the top down) to driving in the dead-heat of summer. I often find I end up getting too hot on longer drives when you have no respite from the heat - guess it must have been those cold Canadian winters that turned me!

I tends to have my hood up during the peak summer afternoons, not so much of the heat, but I just turn brown very very quickly An aftrnoon under the sun, people would think I've been away on holiday....

We've started doing 'sittings' in bulk...picture from our French jaunt last weekend...

Ah yes; Flowers, quite a nice pint! Sorry old chap, but what with the postal strike, no can do!

Shared the car with others a bit too much today. Stopped waiting to reverse round into a space, and backed into by a C class Merc who seemed to want it as well. Bent rear wing & paint scuffed off. Oh bother.
