Has anyone come up with a way to carry luggage externally as well as a spare wheel on a Sport? Interior luggage space is reduced by the roll-bar and, with an impending trip to France and an inherent distrust of tyre repair kits, I would like to be able to do both. Alternatively, does anyone have any information regarding the availability of 165/80x15 tyres in France (Pandy?). If they are generally available, I will leave the spare at home. Don.

I bought what I think was the first set produced commercially! The roll-bar has a transverse harness bar which is welded in and it interferes with the Hillsalive cases.

you could probably strap a case to the outside of the wheel providing it wasn't the dimensions of the Morgan leather case! I was wondering the same as well, as I often carry a spare on my 4/4 Sport rack. I have been thinking of a roll bar but the reduction in luggage space bothers me.

The factory is offering a luggage carrier and a spare wheel holder for the 4/4 Sport model; you have to enquire at the factory's or the dealer's. The availability of 165/8/ x 15 tyres in Belgium and I presume France is poor; this type of "classic" tyre is generally not available in the local tyre shop and must be ordered. Greetings from Belgium (Hasselt) D'herde Bart

They seem to be available - as I've only had the car a year/7500 km it's not something I've had to do yet, but a very quick internet trawl found some Conti's such as fitted to my sport available for rapid delivery mail order... http://www.bonspneus.fr/fr/TyreSize/List...p;tracker=HURRA

I've just tried out my fathers old suitcase on the top of the wheel on my 4/4 Sport. The depth of the case is 19cms...the same as the case that Giles got and the total height of the luggage to the rear panel is approx 42 cms. Not sure how that would compare to a Plus 4 with a case mounted on the rack. Certainly, sitting in the car you can see out of the back window...the bottom half is obscured but a clear view over the top. I did have to take off the mounting handle "T Bar" for the spare so the case could sit flat on the wheel and you'd need to therefore lash down the tyre to the rack.

Haha.......my car is usually kept clean...thats the muck from yesterday's rally! It'll get a wash tomorrow....before I venture underneath to try to fix the handbrake cable I have a horrible feeling i'll have to take the transmission tunnel off to get to it from above. I could take it to the dealers as its under warranty but they are fully booked up for the next couple of weeks...and its something I should have a go at!

Hi Don, I bought a 'Boot Bag' last year and found it ideal on my trip down to Angouleme. Take a look at http://www.boot-bag.com/ Gerry.
