On my plus4, The battery is on the left hand side of the vehicle behind the seat under the parcel shelf. Two ways to get at it. Both involve pulling back the carpets. The easiest is through the aluminium inspection hole behind the passenger seat. Or by removing the plywood shelf. I hope that helps.

Anyone tried the trickle chargers that work through the cigarette lighter? I take it the theory is similar to an optimiser?

That works if the socket is live with the ignition off. Spongy - if your battery is behind the seats you can access either through the aluminium panel behind the nearside seat or by lifting the tool tray out (or blanking panel) over the axle.

Hi Moss, I did not over that up as a suggestion, cos although I have bought a CTEK to trickle charge next winter, I have not tried it and don't know for certain that it will charge a totally flat battery (and assuming Spongy's car has a live power socket. With luck he will come on later with more info.

I use a CTEK conditioner through my cigarette lighter socket, I don't know if it'll recover a flat battery but guess it depends on why it's flat ( dead cell?)

I can go buy this CTEK in a ... Halfords? (other outlets are available!) or do I need to order online? I've optimisers here but they need to be attached to the terminals etc - which seems to be hard to access .. from what I read.
Thanks.

Hi Dave, I think mine probably is ok for this. When I picked up the car the guys mentioned one to me as part of the 'new car' briefing and said they could supply one to me. I forgot all about it until I saw Spongy's post. I should have grabbed one there etc. I'll plug something into it tomorrow and see if it's live. Thanks for the tip. M
