My 2005 4/4 is kept charged using my CTEK 3600 through the cig lighter socket which is located in the glove box. Never had an issue such as blown fuse with this charging system, as it never uses a high current. My only comment is that the cig lighter adapter supplied by CTEK is not the best fit, nor is the standard socket much good (a 99p item!), and as a result the connection can come undone. I replaced both with SUTARS marine grade cig lighter socket and plug. These cost just a few £s and one other benefit is that the socket has a rubber cover, which prevents the risk of any loose metal object getting into the socket and shorting it (which happened to me).

Not connected permanently, but both the 4/4 and the trike have been fitted with sockets to enable me to plug the charger in. Both have battery isolators in the path so will only charge when the isolator key is present.

I also use a CTEK, for about 2 years now. For simplicity I used the extension. Attached this to battery and chassis, the other end sits in the back behind the passenger seat, ready to connect to charger in a few seconds.

I also use a Ctek, bought from BHM complete with extra leads for a socket or ciggy lighter. Aeros need trickle charging when garaged as the clock and immobiliser drains the battery. The battery is a gel battery so when discharged can be difficult to regenerate ( use an old fashioned very slow trickle charger ) and they are very expensive to replace. The Ctek type charger will not charge if the battery has gone under 7.7 volts. I thought all Aeros came with a trickle charger as standard? I would recommend the Ctek and use via your '12v power outlet ' which is always live on the Aero. I also have a similar charger sold occasionally by LIDL at around £12.95, excellent value but only comes with crocodile clips neccessitating opening the bonnet. Maybe the likes of Maplins may have the bits to adapt.
