Ford have indicated their intention to replace the "staple" 1.6 Sigma engine with the new 1.0 litre 3 cylinder turbo as the volume engine in their range. Does this mean that the next entry level Morgan will have 3 cylinders, allowing Morgan to say that they could be the only manufacturer with 2,3,4,6 and 8 cylinder cars in their range?
Just a thought, admittedly after a glass of vin rouge!

I heard that the 3 is a little heavy as the block is cast iron...

The 1.6 Ecoboost is based on the Sigma block but has a direct injection head, turbo and a flat torque curve from 1500rpm...ooo and 180bhp..now that would make an interesting car....4/4T

I think that Morgan should revive the F-type Three-wheeler and install this three cylinder engine, creating the Morgan 3/3.

Lots of mixed messages from the engines sizes in recent cars. The surprise to me was the Roadster with a high CO2 3.7 and of course the new Plus 8. Yet the E version of the plus 8 to demonstrate "green" credentials. I think a company with such low volumes must appeal to the broadest range of potential owners, therefore a 3 cylinder entry level classic is consistant with these extremes.
