The Morgan catalogue states an empty weight of 877kg for a new Plus 4 (not saying 4 or 5 wheels).

From what I understand the figures from Morgan (catalogue/web) are not always 100% accurate...or should I say sometimes even a tad creative innocent The height of a 4/4 is by the way 220 mm...less than 10 inch...glad I opted for a Plus 4 which is 1220 mm (latest catalogue). I now guess all MY spelling errors will result in somestick

The car trailer I have have allow a maximum load of 920kg, would be great if I could use that also for my (to be delivered) Plus 4 if in need (hopefully never). My plan was to remove the spare wheel and make sure the tank is close to empty...

But...the Swedish registration documents states 1100kg "in service weight". Including: driver 70kg (must be female), all fluids (oil, water, window washing fluid), full tank (55L), spare and tools. But if deducting all that from 1100kg I end up with approximately 950kg empty weight crazy2 Something is rotten in the state of Denmark...

The easiest way is probably to have it weighted but has anyone got any figures already notworthy(please state if 4 or 5 wheels and if any heavy extras were included or taken away).

The gentlemen in blue copare pretty harsh regarding overweight...and the fee starts already at 1% rtm spend

Cheers by the way wine

Just for information, the 2011 owners handbook quotes 1000kg, for 4/4, plus 4 and Roadster, for both 2 seat and 4 seaters.
The 1000kg is "complete with tools and petrol".
As you say you need someone to have weighed the car to give you an accurate weight.

Thanks Wirewheel! Maybe 1000kg is the average weight of the Morgan range sherlock

In the past I have been working with technical information for Ericsson, Volvo, Saab, Scania and they have a slightly different attitude regarding accuracy in the figures...but on the other hand their sportscars are a bit average laugh2

I can't help thinking that the sensible thing to do would be to get your car weighed. Even if the official figure s within the weight limit of your trailer, it's the actual weight of your car that important, not what the manufacturer claims it to be.

But having said that, 950kg sounds about right, maybe a little high. My 4/4 weighs 860kg in road-going trim (all fluids, half a tank of fuel, no driver)

Thanks Tim, 860 kilos for your 4/4 is a useful figure.

thinkingCatalogue claims empty weight of a 4/4 to be 795 kilos...mening mine Plus 4 might be around 940kilos in a similar dress. With a empty tank it might be possible to hit 920 kilos.

Of course the best thing is to get it weighted... as soon as it gets delivered innocent

Morgan quotes dry weights for the Plus 4 -- i.e. no fluids.

by time you add oil, coolant, petrol etc to get to the DIN weight, you need to add, probably, another 75 to 100kgs to that weight

It would be also valuable if someone could state the different engine weights. Beside the weight of the engine, gearbox, different brake and tire sizes, different width of wings, the trads should be almost comparable regarding weight.
BTW which engine weights more, a Rover Plus 8 or a Ford Vsix?

Just double checked a reg.no. from a Roadster and that also said 1100kg...so the Morgan figures stating empty weight is probably more reliable...and it might be possible for me to transport the Plus 4 on my existing trailer (making sure the tank is close to empty and putting the spare/tools in the boot of my towing vehicle). laugh2

Start the betting.... cop spend versus happy3 I will be back when car is weighted.

FYI on my "registreringsbevis" for my 4/4 Sport it says that the weight (tjänstvikt)is 910kg,
Maybe that can help you.

Hi Pemlar, great to see yet another Swede on TM cheers

Thanks for that piece of information, 910 kilos "in-service-weight"/tjänstevikt (including driver, full tank, oil, water, tools and spare (if original)) sounds like a very good figure for the performance drive I just learnt that one liter of petrol weights approx. 0,75kg/L, depending on quality and temp.

I will book a session on the weighing-machine to be really sure if in need woohoo
