During this same period around 400,000 1.6-litre EcoBoost engines will be produced at Bridgend for European vehicles and production will total of over 1 million engines for all export markets, including Europe.

EcoBoost engine technology was developed by UK powertrain engineers located at the Ford Dunton Technical Centre and Ford Dagenham engine plant in Essex.
“Whether it’s the 125PS 1.0-litre engine in the Focus or the high-performance 250PS 2.0-litre version in the upcoming Focus ST, EcoBoost delivers a combination of fuel efficiency and performance that would have seemed impossible in a petrol engine just a few years ago,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president, Product Development, Ford of Europe. “It provides all the performance, refinement and torque customers want with the fuel consumption of smaller engines.”
I see that the engine will soon be avaiable crated Ford in a box

Pass....BUT...
The 2.0ltr Ecoboost is based on the Duratec and the 1.6 Ecoboost is based on the Sigma.. One of these is Mazda and the other Yamaha..can't remember off hand which is which.. The Sigma had Yamaha direct input I believe - bit like the 1.7 in the Ford Puma. The Duratec was Mazda (with Yamaha expertise). They're all in each others pockets here and there  Cheers,

Already being shipped from Powertorque in Coventry.. saw the 2.0 and 1.6 there a couple of weeks ago

Ford have indicated their intention to replace the "staple" 1.6 Sigma engine with the new 1.0 litre 3 cylinder turbo as the volume engine in their range. Does this mean that the next entry level Morgan will have 3 cylinders, allowing Morgan to say that they could be the only manufacturer with 2,3,4,6 and 8 cylinder cars in their range?
Just a thought, admittedly after a glass of vin rouge! Jeremy Clarkson's review of the Ford Focus fitted with the 1 litre 3 cylinder ecoboost motor in this weekend's Sunday Times had him raving about what a brilliant engine it is. 125 horses, loads of torque & very light weight; It sounds perfect for fitting in a Morgan Trad. As suggested earlier in this thread, roll on the 3/4 (or the 4/3).
