Any idea what this part is. I found it on the floor of the car after my daughter and wife removed the drivers seat on my '88 4 seater (I am nursing a very bad back so had to take on workshop foreman role!)

Due to my back I cant get underneath the other seat to compare! is it off the seat or just some extraneous piece of metal that has fallen off something that has been in the car?

cheers for tips....

It looks like a clamp used to hold in the speedo into the dash panel. The threaded post goes up through the hole and the leg holds against the dash. There is normally a knurled nut on the post to tighten.

ooh, I'll send my daughter out to have a look when she gets home from school - I think she might have some engineering skills that will come to fruition later, I haven't seen any knurled nuts rolling about anywhere(ooh err matron)

Sawman, this is definitely from the rear of the instruments, I have had one off and on for days now trying to solve my fuel guage prob.

Well done chaps,

Sawmiss has found the knurled nut underneath one of the other mats and re-secured the speedo.

I think she has found her vocation, I am canceling next terms school fees and sending her to Market Drayton to finish her education...

Only if I can use her staff discount!

Actually she really enjoyed her trip round the factory last year, my little lad was disappointed as there weren't any robots or big machines!
