Worth a try but Ford dealers in my experience are not too interested in older stuff.
Try Melvyn Rutter or surf the web for old Ford specialists.

Well, I guess it will have to wait til monday, I found a couple of motor factors open this pm but neither could help, I have some epoxy in stock, so I will attempt a repair, but dont hold out much hope as the crack in the pipe probably goes 2/3 the way round the pipe and its just where the pipe enters the metal fitting.

Looks like I'll be on the train to work this week!

Do you suppose this would be a standard ford part (its a cvh!)

Typical on a saturday afternoon!!

Ford is not that crazy. smile The whole oiler system is made of Morgan parts. However, if the olive
is ok, you can cut the oil line before the break, slip back on the female union and the olive and
re-tighten.

But now that you have proof of how risky the system is, why would you repair it? The next break
can happen at the foot valve or worse, at the kingpin. Motor oil at engine speed sprays
everything in the bay around it at high pressure until the engine seizes or you can stop safely,
which assumes your brakes are not covered.

The only problem is the junction at the bulkhead. If it feeds the oil pressure gauge, you will have
to buy plugs for those lines (at a local plumbing or heating company).

Good luck.

Walk me through this slowly, it is possible to get the olive off and re installed? I haven't tried, but it seemed pretty secure - do I need to warm it up or something?

You'll need a new olive, it will have been compressed around the pipe. Should be a standard sort of thing from a plumbers merchant for a compression coupling.

Anywhere like that, air line stuff will do it too. I just thought try DIY as it'll be Sunday. Take the offendng part with you as a sample.

Sorry. You will not be able to reuse that olive on that line. It should be easy to find another. Anyone
who works on oil or gas heating systems will have the right size. At the very worst, get some olives
(not just one) from a Morgan dealer. The lines break often enough and they should all have what you
need at hand.

Using a small pipe cutter, cut the line, slip on the new olive and tighten at the junction. (Be careful
to leave the fitting on the line before you put on the new olive and tighten.)

If you have decided to run the risk of the oil lines, then get a threaded plug to close the oil feed at
the engine. Carry it in the car. It will probably help you get home one day.

It looks as if you have a nylon line. Why not replace it with copper like the older cars?
