I bought my first Morgan five years ago, I am lucky - I think, in that I work local to my home and can drive my Morgan every day! So no need for another car- great.
When I arranged the insurance for the car, I took advantage of one of the classic car schemes.
Recently, as part of the renewal procedure, I acquired a few alternative quotes. I was surprised to learn that my previous 60% NCD had lapsed.
This is a factor that had escaped me but is usual practice with insurance companies, as no NCD is required for classic cover, non is accrued or retained.
If I ever wish to own another car, I will start insurance from scratch, I may of course be lucky enough to benefit from an 'introductory discount' but cannot rely upon it.
Better just keep driving the Mog, it is not a hardship, and I think the daily use means the car runs better!

I have had a similar experience. My insurance was due for renewal recently so I did the usual trawl to get some quotes. I had one which was lower than my current insurer, however I was advised to check the NCD - only to find it would elapse after 2 years after which I would be paying the full premium. Thankfully I found out in time and renewed with my current insurer.

Priviledge accepted several years of a Classic policy as proof of NCD, even though none accrued on said policy.

as it has been bugging me for a while I swapped over to Phillip Bell a few years ago and he instantly said I will start your NCB . I was with him 2 year then he sold up, the policy shot up and I moved back to Boncaster . Always thought it would be a case of shopping about to find a firm that would act with a bit of logic instead of greed .

In my case, I had changed the classic for a modern (the other classic - Mog - had moved across to a different supplier).
I explained to the chap at Priviledge what the circumstances were and he said "We don't want to charge you any more than is necessary". They accepted a letter from the Classic policy supplier that no claims had occurred during the previous five years and that the policy had expired on a certain date and gave me full NCD. That was several years ago.

I'm wondering if I can migrate the 90 to a Classic policy - can't get it in the garage... 'Cos the Mog is there

On another note, I see that pre-emissions based road tax has gone up from £215 to £220 this year on vehicles with engines larger than 1549cc... Still, that's only 21 miles at an average of 25mpg...

You're lucky you were able to get a classic car scheme without having to have a fully insured 'every day' car as well. I've never seen a classic policy without this condition before.
