That is what Mogsport were going to fit to my car.....the only problem is that Specialist Components have stopped making it due to lack of interest.

According to Mark at the factory, you can expect around 120 - 125bhp from a standard Sigma if decently run in and regularly using the full rev range. I've not bothered with a dyno run yet but Mike Duncan reckons mine is pretty good for a 4/4 Sport. Cain....have a look at RPM in Perth website....they do a revised filter and air intake taking air from the bonnet side louvres which they reckon gives better breathing. Getting a decent power increase from modern engines seems more complicated and expensive than the good old days......cost wise it seems to be cheaper to replace the engine with a 2 litre Duratec until you add up all the additional stuff that's needed!

hi Jays, at the moment I think that upgrades are just to much money, In a few years when smaller engines take over from larger units ( after all FI is swaping to 1600cc engines for all the race cars ) a lot more people will be producting products for this engine and the prices will drop., I can,t see how an engine that ford states as being 115 bhp can make more power with time, thats total rubbish, an engine can become run in but will not make more BHP.

Jays I've seen it.. It costs a lot and I don't think they sell it to a punter its fit only...

But to be honest I love playing and doing it myself.
I have also looked at good old fashioned Webber's, as I have a guru a mile from home he has worked on Caterham with our engine, and reckons 160 bhp on the carbs but you loose the VVT. OLD SKOOL. I'm tempted... and cheap £900 to £1200 and a couple of hours on the dyno. Oh the thought of petrol spitting back through the 4 trumpets flames and all, cold start problems in the winter constant fettling........... I only dream!!!

I've only spent £300 on a silencer, £26 on a K&N stock type panel filter, The heat tape I had "in stock" and £19.50 on the air duct. My return for under £350 is 19bhp which is more when on the road because of the forced induction.

My latest, purchase on Gumtree for £30 was a universal K&N Apollo (http://www.knfilters.co.uk/apollo.aspx). I have nearly finished the short alloy intake manifold with MAP Censor holder, some Silicon pipe, and bits and pieces. parts so far about £120 not including the 102mm cold air induction silicon pipe and trumpet .

I also have another idea for a non C.A.I. which I shall try when I've finished this game!!!

Terry....the 4/4 has a piggyback ecu to remap the original Ford one, to take into account the lighter weight of the car etc. so there may be some power gains. I'm tempted to get mine on a dyno as it stands now out of curiosity!

Cain....a pair of 40 DCOE's would be VERY tempting but how they would fit in with the ECUs etc could be a problem and then there is the emissions issue at MOT time. Your approach of getting the engine to breath better is not a bad approach.

Jays, i know about the twin ECU,s. they are locked and can,t be have a remap. you would need a new ECU. I think at the moment that as I have said its a non starter, my car is newest so don,t wish to go the bits and bobs DIY job. so will wait until dealers start to make clearer non sells talk statements on these upgrades or some other company starts making them outside of the Morgan dark zone. terry

As I understand the pair of 40 DCOE's "work alone" jetting to suit Mot and jetting for the rest of the year!
A stand alone ECU is used for firing etc but does not need to be as complexed as the type used for throttle bodies, but you could use the high tech ECU just incase you don't like carbs and swop to throttle bodies!!

Old school and modern mix, carbs can use throttle position sensor or cable
