Hi, just got back from a 60 mile round trip to have a full set of AVO shocks fitted to my 4/4 sport. well I came back the same way and at more or less the same speeds,( a bit slower going to the workshop) ie very slow behind tractors and upto 80mph when I could. before the new shocks the ride was plain horror the front end bumping around all over the place and the motion in the car sick making at times. all in all not a nice place to be, So what was the return trip like, well we all know that a morgan will never be an easy ride but the car was 200% percent better all round, at times i could feel the shocks working, taking corners fast was a joy and I got home a lot faster and in better shape then the first trip. I am starting to like this car. value for money 9/10. , michael

Have a look at changing the front springs. - using Rutherford springs. http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/64270/Re_Plus_8_Front_Springshttp://www.newelmsmorgan.com/rutherford-parts.htmOh, and welcome to The Forum

hi, I talked about changing the front springs, but was told that as the 4/4 sport is so light I would be ok with the AVO,s, this was at newelmsmorgan. I am going to have a play with the settings over the next few days to see what works for me, at the moment they are set at 4 front and rear. and yes I am starting to injoy the car, a few jobs still to do and I think I will be there, michael

Well done MIchael. Sometimes it can be a slow burn. I was lucky that mine already had AVO's so I didn't suffer the standard shocks.

Good news! While AVOs made a significant improvement to my Roadster, to make that much difference suggests that the old shocks were suspect. Ian

Hi, the old new shocks, looked like something made in the far east, more fit for a push bike then a car. the AVO,s did make for a far nicer ride, and I could feel them working at times, before it was just a very hard ride with a rocking motion., I have a 1600cc 4/4 sport and it must be a bit lighter then your 3.7 roadster, so in my mind needs more action in the suspension as there is less weight help the ride. michael

For the sake of a couple of hundred pounds I really don't understand why Morgan can't use the best shocks available. A Morgan should be a quality vehicle!
