i have just bought a series 1,i had a series 4 for 2 years which was a great car. the series 1 seems to have a noise from the differential the car has 15000 miles. is this normal for the series 1 to have a slight diff noise ? apart from that the car is fantastic I think i prefer it to the series 4.

Not to mention significantly more 'driveline shunt' it's all part of the character of the s1.

It is noisier for the first mile or so until the differential has warmed up, and then settles down, but always there. Sounds worse with the roof up. At higher mileage you may get occasional universal joint rattling sounds on sharp turns.

Scottie,
I have just bought a Series 1 and there is more noise involved in gear changes or even dipping the clutch. A much more racing orientated clutch and drive line, I am told. Although once under load in gear there is no noticeable noise.

Oi, with all this cliquiness going on, don't forget there's an honorary Paddy Mog over here That's lovely! Really nice colour. What is it? Congratulations. May you spend many happy miles together.
Cheers
