Hello, I am new to this forum.
I have been seriously thinking of buying a Morgan, I am from Canada, but we have a house in the South of France, which should be ideal driving location for this car. I am on my way to Paris to visit the dealer there and learn some more, but it would seem so far, that the v6 roadster could be the choice.
the question is, is there a big advantage in ordering a new one versus buying a 2,000 k used one from 2005, I think, anniversary model, concern are improvements like paint suspension and other things? are they important. I am certainly concerned about the best ride possible. (my Wife says my choice in cars always limits to those with the hardest ride!)

The biggest change is the move from an engine that was originally designed for transverse mounting to one that was always intended to be installed North-South.

When you look at the ancilary component design and intake the new engine provides a much better power unit package than the older roadster engine.

You'll have to give up some peak power for a little additional torque lower down. Ultimately, increased torque will make an average driver feel like the car is quicker.. so generally you probably won't notice any difference.

do you mean from 2005 model, to the 2007 or current production, they changed the configuration of the engine?

Morning Peter, I have just bought a new LHD 4/4 for use in France and had similar questions to the ones you have raised.

Buy 'New'; if you are looking at a car as recent as a 2005 you will be paying a Premium Price compared to buying new. Morgans in Europe carry an 'average' mark - up over UK prices of +/- US$10,000 regardless of whether from a Dealer or Private Sale, there aren't enough cars available. The 'Anniversary' model was only available as a RHD 1.8litre 4/4 2 Str. and IMHO to be avoided - not the 4/4 as such, just the 'Anniversary' model.

I ordered my 'LHD' from a UK Dealer because I have dealt with him previously and like 2 other 'Mogs', that I know of in our area (16), major 'annual' servicing will be carried out by my man in the UK.

Don't be tempted by any pre 2001 cars that don't have a EEC Certificate of Conformity. Also, trying to register in France a 'RHD' car converted to 'LHD' will not work.

In France I am located in dept 84, the Luberon area. have seen the occasional Mog but not sure where they are from.
re service, that is a good question, I supposed I would have to drive to Paris, closer than the UK, for this, though there is a garage that services Morgans very close to us, and he owns one himself, though I wonder about warranty.
anyway, the message is very clear, buy a new one.
just that the Paris dealer shows in his web site, what I think is a 2005 V6, LHD, "anniversary" model, looks very appetizing!, anyway I fly there tonight.
should be fun!

further thinking, I am not sure why I should be buying a V6 also, maybe the 4/4 or plus is good enough.
just that I drive a Porsche 911 in Canada and not sure I will be happy with less power, (but also have a Mini Cooper S 2007 in France) so maybe would be ok.
anyway, guess have to try them out.
