Assuming most of us suffer poor road surfaces, I wonder if the OS control tripping that some owners suffer, is triggered by rib undulations / potholes ?

Now I understand! I did have some fragmented knowledge. As I have a manual PlusFour it's not applicable for me!? Yes, it actually does apply to you too. Look back about 16 threads to my thread #805374 dated 12/08/2024 Well, then I'm trying to think it doesn't exist.....!! Why did I never hear about overseer warnings and switches other than with the Morgan CX-range. I've driven several BMW's with the ZF 8-speed gearboxes but never was I confronted with an overseer warning. Neither in the Mini Cooper of my better half.....! My most recent BMW is an EV so that doesn't count.....!

Thanks for your post, ITP. The factory explanation you included, makes sense to me, whished MMC had included this information in the handbook… My interest in this topic was triggered by the fact that the overseer warning light came on in my new Plus Six. I could not relate the switching on of the warnig light, to anything specific. It also did not result in any interruptions. I could just continue driving normally (as far as that is possible in a Morgan). My dealer prosionally diagnosed the problem and cured the issue by recalibrating the accelerometer unit. Just as described in ITP’s post.
On my 2024 build Plus Six, there is no switch to turn off the overseer function.

Just read the factory explanation again….so if you are going down a steep hill with your foot off the throttle and not applying the brakes, surely there could be acceleration taking place.. So does that mean that the overseer would then cut the engine?? Maybe they have over simplified the explanation?

So does that mean that the overseer would then cut the engine?? Maybe they have over simplified the explanation? Good point Doug. Increasing speed due to steep hill, so the Overseer perceives acceleration + no throttle input = Overseer tells ECU to shut the engine down. I was wondering why they had indicated X and Y accelerometers, and then said one was "left to right" and the other "up and down". In my experience, X would be direction of travel, Y would be right angles to direction of travel and "up and down" would be classified as Z, assuming "up and down" relates to height. Perhaps the explanation is simplified and the logic is something like "IF accelerometer X shows acceleration AND throttle input is present OR accelerometer Y shows downhill THEN OK". That would cover acceleration due to throttle or going downhill, but assumes that one of the accelerometers knows that the car is going downhill.

in my 2009 V6 Roadster I used to volontarily (?) lock-up the rear wheels while entering the Carousel on the Nuerburgring good days, back then; when danger was neglected
