As the Malvern Arms is for random musings here's a thread for posting Art that you've just come across or has stuck in your head over the years ... nothing precious just share away 🙂 .... there's so much out there it's easy for things to pass you by.

Just like this with me! ... for some reason I've never seen this before! ...from a fresco at Pompeii .... as fresh and striking as if it was painted yesterday rather than 2100 years ago ... colours and perspective and the direct gaze of the subject just timeless. Love it!

KI can make interesting art, too.

Also a bit like Escher:

Govinder Nazran did a series around cats which often caught the funny side of the cats soul. Sadly he passed some time back. Certainly not of the same historic value but for me equally touching.

Purchased in 1973 an upcoming local artist in Brixham from the harbour frontage where he painted and displayed. He now part owns a gallery in much the same spot overlooking King Billy of Orange statue. Gallery.

She is a lot larger than the one in Copenhagen which I actually prefer. Heather and I couldn't believe how small it was.

The mermaid in Copenhagen is indeed very small - but easy to find!
You have to look out for a very large crowd of Asians...

A trip to Heligan is always worthwhile and a few natural sculpts around if you keep your eyes peeled.

You would have to have a heart of stone not to feel moved after you see the inscriptions on the Gardeners toilet wall from those that went to the Great War and didn't return, wonderfully preserved and a tasteful tribute to these brave men.

My daughter has been working on very old photographic printing techniques. She will have an exhibition of her work here in Lecco next year.

It is a technique called cyanotype. She also gets sepia tones after soaking the print in a tannin bath.

Very early form of photography ... those early types had a softness about them that had a more 'arty' and mysterious feel to them ... not as clinically 'photographic' as more modern systems ... since the demise of the 'blueprint' as a major use it's mostly used as an art medium ...

She first makes a negative print on film from the original digital photo and then makes a contact print using the cyanotype process. If she wants a sepia print she then uses a taking bath which fixes and changes the colour.

It's an intuitive experimental process where you know the chemistry will do a certain thing but at the same time the outcome isn't guaranteed.

I love it because it injects chance into the very controlled technology of digital photography.

I loved Giles. I still have his annuals from the 60's and early 70's before I relocated to USA.

Also some "Eagle" annuals. Its amazing to look back and see what the future looked like.

Lest We Forget’ sand artwork, by Harry Maddox.
Tregirls Beach, Padstow, Cornwall.

An incredible tribute by Harry Maddox to the sacrifice made by our Armed Forces 🎖️ These are full size and done entirely with a spring rake clap

A postcard of our village centre 1890's, the shop on the left and right were still open when we moved into the village 45 years ago. The village shop on the corner is till hanging in there and is also the Post Office.
The Coach would leave their guests and horses to overnight at the London Inn just forward of this shot on the right, still a pub until 15 years ago.

The black sliding doors in the RHD foreground are still existing and were used for the Coach and now used as a car garage, still with black sliding doors..
