We were on Shell Energy who are taken over by Octopus. I was looking at this tariff as we have pv solar and batteries.
Has anyone tried it and does it save money?
The calculation is not easy as we loose the export part of the FIT but my man maths says it should work

I had to climb a 30ft scaffold tower and change a blade-spring on my wind-turbine yesterday .... a little butt-clenching but, on balance, I'd prefer that simple straightforward task every few years to negotiating the current mainstream domestic power minefield 😄

Thanks Jon.
That is what I would prefer too. The "smart" one is not available at present anyway, due to fluctuation in wholesale prices.
I now know why I could not move - my FiT is provided by Eon Next, so in the process of moving supplier. The battery system only went in in early June.

If you are on FiT unless it's the very tail end pricing it's probably not worth moving to SEG as FiT pays you for generation as well as assumed 50% export where as SEG only pays for the units you actually export. and the SEG rates have recently dropped.Once you transfer Fit to SEG there is no going back
