19 plate hi spec Plus 6 , hard and soft tops, Speedster wheels, sport and winter tyres, full Morgan history, 30,000 miles, offered £43,000 from a main dealer against a £75k lotus. Another dealer offered £45,000 against a £100,000 24 plate plus 6, and it’s no surprise that another dealer in North west, didn’t even want to PX it as he said market dead, no second hand ones selling, only brand fire new ones that are being bought by new to Morgan customers are selling.

I did ask If the higher milage had much to do with price. He said if it had 1000 miles on it, he still wouldn’t offer me much more.

I had that itch we often get after a couple of years!!

But my itch, not that itchy to take a 30k hit over 24 months.

May as well get back to enjoying it, by doing loads more miles in it without being precious, seeing as the proof is out there that it’s no better at residuals than a Vauxhall Vectra was in the 1990s.

It's a shrinking market anyway, as the number of older enthusiasts dwindle. But high prices also reduce the market. The anti car warriors are also having an impact on the whole Classic Car scene.

Times are changing, and falling values may well increase the numbers for sale, because some owners will knee jerk to try and bale out before they lose money.

Forget about all this and enjoy what you have before the eco warriors get their way.

Oh, yesterday there was an Aston Martin in for test (I was there for my Plus 4 test) which had done 12 miles in the year. That's crazy. I'm no mileage baron, but I do make the most of available time for Morgan driving.

And of course political uncertainty and a crap summer don't help.
I bought the cx for the long term and the fun of it not as an investment.

The writing has been on the wall for years the automobile community chose not to read it the ship has sailed and is way out in the ocean it may dock occasionally for brief resupply but not on a permanent basis. Too late now for those wanting a return on their investment, my philosophy has always been ownership to drive and enjoy till I no longer can then what happens to the vehicle doesn't matter.

Well It's Rodeo weekend in our little mountain town so all three Moggies will be in the Parade entertaining the folks and it is going to be a hot one too.
