A splendid example of bureaucracy by the jobsworths. If you can keep SORN on a vehicle, why cant you keep zero tax on a vehicle. They might say that you could scrap the car and it still be registered if you did that - but so what?
Because, when you tax a car, the system checks to see if it is insured (& MOT if required). It is the only routine confirmation.
